    Need help identifying valve/body

I am looking at this marker that is for sale, but I only have this grainy picture for now. The person selling it has been out of paintball for a while, so he doesn't remember a lot of details, but he claims the following:

It is some kind of Automag RT
It came with a twist-lock body, but he replaced it with an aftermarket body that accepts autococker thread barrels
It has Lvl10 installed in it.

What I am trying to find out is exactly what valve it has on it, the RT Classic or the RT-Pro (those would be the choices right?), and what kind of body he put on it. From the picture it does not look like an ULE body, and he seemed pretty sure it was not an AGD body. Any ideas?

    Looks like a Z-Body.

ANSgear is the worlds largest online paintball store. Huge selection of Paintball Guns, Tanks, Masks, Loaders, Harnesses, Barrels and more. Fast & Free shipping will keep you up to date with all of the best paintball gear.

FYI the Z-Body allows you to put backspin on every shot that you take, acting like an Apex or Flatline. I'm not TOO sure about the success rate about this but I hear it's scattered. It's a really neat piece of AGD history though!

thats what I thought to, a Z. Pretty unique piece, might want to snatch it up for a good price if the seller is ignorant as to it's identity & rarity.

Get a better picture. There is something screwy going on with how the air is coming in on that valve. With the grainy picture it looks as if the air is coming in on the back of the valve where the velocity adjuster should be.

Def a Z body. Looks like an Intelliframe and an AA adjustable reg.

I wonder if they didn't gut the reg on the valve and run the adjustable straight in?

frame looks more like a Dye frame, as for the valve, would need a more clear pic of it to tell, for me at least

yea the air setup is a lil odd, might just be a quick-disconnect on an elbow pointing backwards tho

The frame looks like a Bob Long or maybe even a Benchmark...

So what about the valve? I imagine that the Z-body was made for regular Automags as opposed to the classic RT, which means the valve has to be a RT Pro? I haven't been able to get better pictures yet. How much do Z bodies go for these days?

The valve will be some variation of the RTpro, i'd assume it's an RTpro since the other valves are labeled differently (Emag, ReTro, X etc.)

As for value, its probably around the cost of a ULE body, maybe more due to rarity, but still will depend on whether or not people are willing to pay for it

That's def a Intel frame, 100% on the Z-Body (can't mistake that thing ), AA rail and looks like a Air America Reg with a freken huge tank. With out a better pic, your valve is UNK. It's def a pro type RT or classic valve with a aftermarket back. A standard RT valve won't work on this body.

To make that body function properly you'll need a big bore barrel (.690 or higher.....697=money) If you have a freak barrel setup, they make a SS .697 insert. Finding a .697 barrel good luck. Any AC barrel will work tho. Just need the big bore for the backspin.

Make sure the rubber backspin nubbin is there and the adj screw is working. I've seen some that won't adj or the rubber piece missing. I'm currently trying to recreate that rubber piece just in case mine goes Tango Uniform. I've made a few already but they aren't working out too well. Still trying to find the proper rubber to get the backspin working 100% and won't wear out after a game. Once I get it done, I'll be giving them out to who ever needs one.

                  Hope that helps.

hmm, the only trigger frames i've seen with the curve on the trigger guard like that is Dye, intelli is either straight or a slight indent
also that trigger isn't an intelli trigger
(tho looking at the initial post, dun think he was tryin to identify the frame so this point is moot:P)

True and I beleve your right. Zooming in on it, I don't see the small milled area behind the trigger guard.

Don't see what you mean by the trigger tho

                          Got pics!

Ok, I finally got some hi-res pics. The marker is still in the possession of my brother-in-law, who picked it up for me, but I am not sure if I am keeping it yet. Can you gurus help me identify the various bits and pieces, and perhaps let me know what you think the market value is of said pieces? That should help my decision on what to do with it.

It is definitely a Z-body looks like, but when I asked him to look down into the breech to see if he could see the nubbin that sticks out, he said he didn't see anything. The previous owner never mentioned the backspin function, so maybe he was unaware of it, and removed it?

RetroValve, this is the half SS, half Aluminium right? Functionally the same as the X-Valve but heavier? The previous owner said he installed a LVL10 bolt.

It is an Air America Apocalypse reg. I've only owned screw-ins, how do you purge these tanks?

Here are the pics, click on them for full size (big!)

No wonder the seller stopped responding to me
