Is the valve assembly symetrical in design ?

    Hey there mag enthusiasts!

For some reason I can't get the search function to work properly on this computer and I am looking for something I am sure was already asked a million times at least.

Is the valve/reg/bolt assembly symmetrical ? I saw some reversed valves where you would screw in your fitting on the opposite of the normal mounting side but could this be done under or over the usual position ? Would drilling and taping a hole under the assembly damage any internal component(s) or can it be done safely ?

Basically I want do modify it so I can run my macro line directly through the rail/grip to hide it all.

    Thanks!

Sounds to me like you want a classic RT.....

classic RT's use the rail as an intermediate for the air supply, u stick your fittings into the rail, n the air gets into the valve via a banjo bolt.

the valve rail n body for classic RT's arent compatible with other types of mags

I can't get good pictures showing this off Google image.

But the main question is, can I drill a hole under my Automag68 valve assembly, plug the existing hole and run air from under ?

            Yes.

I suggest taking a first hand look at a classic RT before you muck up your valve.

Alright! I should get the valve in under 2 weeks so when I get it, drillin' time! I will post pictures if everything turns out to be nice...and working.

In the mean time, if anyone feels like posting pictures or providing links to a classic rt valve design please feel free to do so!

Thank you all for the information, I knew I could count on you guys.

i only see one small problem unless done with a banjo bolt your air fitting may be to large to fit inside the rail...meaning it may stick out the bottom of the rail some....i dont know that for a fact though its only a thought without a mag in my hands

That may make removing the valve a tad bit more difficult as well.

But I am curious to see it work.

Sounds like you'd take the same basic approach as making a sleeper pneu frame and sealing the ASA to the bottom.

Meh. Cool project, but the signature side-air line screams "I'M AN AGD PRODUCT! BATHE IN MY AWESOMENESS".
