    tank reg tightening

Hey guys, I justgot a 'new' crossfire tank for my Max Flo reg and I was wandering if it was fine to just hand tighten, or if i HAD to have a strap wrench. I figured if I got it tight enough by hand it would automatically seal itself when aired up and Ithought I had read here of other guys doing that.

That would be stupid on your part. There are SPECIFIC TORQUE Values that must be adhered to in order for it to be deemed safe. Call SP and ask them what it is. Hand tight is NEVER tight enough.

Tank regs should be torqued to 50lbs if you dont use loctite, 35lbs with. But Glen Palmer and TK have stated that tank regs arent designed to need loctite, and if used improperly the loctite can be more of a detriment.

On that note, anyone know where one might get a hold of the tool used to install and remove regs? Ive seen home-made ones where they basicly cut notches into a large socket
