    Piranha Long Barrel odd leak

Perhaps you guys can help me diagnose this.

I have a Piranha Long Barrel that quite suddenly developed a leak in the valve.

It is leaking out of the front of the lower tube.

I removed the valve, much to my distress as I do not have a valve tool, and I discovered that there is no o-ring in the very front of the valve where it appears to be leaking from.

The center o-ring was bad and I replaced it, the cup-seal was fine, and I re assembled the valve only to have it leaking out of the front of the lower tube again.

Do I need to have something re-welded? Am I missing an o-ring?

To help describe where it is leaking from, if I remove the grip frame I can feel air coming from the frame-screw nut...

    Oil hasn't helped.

    Thanks guys.

I can't remember exactly, but I think there is a plug in there in the front. Originally this line of guns were operated off 12 gram CO2 that was installed through the front. The later versions plugged the front and added an ASA in the back. I suspect it is the sealed plug in the front that is leaking. I think you will have to take the cap off the front of the tube and get at it from there.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

I know that some of the old pumps used a lead seal/gasket and perhaps you yanking out the valve, destroyed it. Palmers Persuit can fix it, contact them for a reincarnation treatment - as they can do WONDERS with the old brassy pumps.

Athomas is right. I got the answer on BigEvil's forum and via Palmer. The solder on the brass "plug" let go in some spots.

The lead seal is not necessary on the Piranhas, I discovered. In fact, many pumpers remove them... I don't even know why they are there, then, but I am going to see if a normal o-ring will work in it's stead.

I'm waiting for Palmer's to email me back with how much a repair would cost.
