Ep Mag issues - Bolt stick forward

Issue : Bolt sticks forward when rattling off a string at higher than 8 or so bps.

    Valve: 68 Classic

    Tank : 650input Myth

    Dwell : 15ms

    LPR Pressure : lots.

I've run into an issue lately of my mag's bolt sticking waaaay forward as soon as I attempt to get it ripping. Initially my thought was that the valves recharge just wasnt there but realistically 8 bps isnt all that taxing. In this case the problem rights its self as soon as I unscrew my tank/re-air the gun.

    My checklist thus far :

    Spring - No visible wear
    Bolt - No wear
Powertube Oring - Oiled and undamaged
Seer : Polished with 200grit on all contact points
Spacer: 215 (Have tried others, same issue)
    FPS : 270

As I understand it the bolt stick might have to do with my dwell, which is currently at 15ms. So that rules out shortstroking, which leads me to believe it something with the spacers. I'd just like input from guys who might have run into this before.

Have you tried shooting with a higher output tank?

Negative. Since I have a 68 now I never even thought to fill up my co2 tanks before I left the field to test their effectiveness.

Worse comes to worse I have to order shims from myth

More diagnostic: The deeper I shoot into the tank, the more frequently the bolt sticks forward, so chances are its the input pressure. To clarify the bolt hangs forward to the point where I can jam my finger down the feedneck and reset it manually with a bit of effort. My understanding is that the bolt stick doesn't have anything to do with my pnuematics/trigger actuation

Just incase I am wrong, what else could cause bolt stick?

        Worn sear
        Worn spring
        Using an RT on/off in place of a 68 on/off ( ???? )
        Lack of input/recharge rate

At first look I would say it might have something to do with your tank. I have always been told that you should be using AT LEAST 750 psi output. It may not be that the valve isn't recharging fast enough, but the tank reg? And when you say the bolt is sticking "waaaayyy" forward, are you talking 1/4" or completely blocking the breech? You may want to try a different spring on there as the one on there right now may be bent a little and it's binding around the bolt? If it's possible try with a standard trigger frame to rule out anything on the EP side, you should be able to get around 8 bps still, though it will be a bit tougher. Just throwing out a few ideas. Good luck.

Ya like Xero said strip it down and go vanilla, with a normal frame and original on/off and see what your getting. If it's shooting properly then start adding one thing at a time till you narrow the problem down. Re-post and hopefully we can get you through it.

              Toll,

I also had a problem with my e-mag valve not wanting to operate properly with a Myth Reg and talked to the guys at Guerrilla Air while at Living Legends 2 and they replaced my Myth Reg no problems (one for one swap out)... I explained to them what was going on with my mag and they hooked me right up... I also found out that their regs don't take shims but replace the main spring in it... I would give them a call and see if they can help you out... Great customer service and always friendly...

Interesting, what did you have as symptoms? I just ran the same series of tests with a mech frame and it would do the same thing, though my tank is getting low.

These pictures give you an idea of the set up distance from the seer leg and such...I dont think the pnuematics are a problem but it doesnt hurt to take them into account. My camera sucks, as it doubles as my phone/answering machine. The only thing I can think of pnuematically is that my dwell still isnt high enough but 15ms seems like its pretty much up there.

The symptoms I was having was either bolt stick or it would just run off like it was full auto but no pressure behind the ball and I wasn't even pulling the trigger when this happened,,, I just aired it up (like when a Tippmann A-5 or 98 run out of air type run away,,, aka: the Tippmann Farts)... Like I said I talked to GA and they replaced my HPA Myth Reg for free with a new one and all the symptoms went away... I hope that helps
