Ok, so I've already had a few posts regarding questions for my Etac that I'm setting up. I've got some troubleshooting advice I need now. So I attached my lowers to my Tac-one, traded out the on/off pin for the emag one along with the emag oring for that pin. However, when I shoot it, air will start rushing down the chamber. Obviously something is being left open, I'm thinking it's something to do with the on/off. Input?

Does it stop when you hold the trigger???Originally posted by CatoRockwellOk, so I've already had a few posts regarding questions for my Etac that I'm setting up. So I took out all the shims and now it doesn't seem to be having the problem.
One other question: How do I know if there are too few shims in it?

new problem has come up. every now and then, not every time, it'll start leaking down the barrel again. as soon as I fire a following shot the leaking will stop.

Most of the time you will never encounter a situation in which a shim or two will make a difference. Shims shorten the distance that the bolt needs to move before it can vent air and reset. Most of the time, if the bolt moves at all, it will move far enough to vent air. There will usually be enough movement, even with a breach block, to allow the vent hole to be exposed. If you find situations where an attempt to fire takes place and the bolt moves far enough that the sear cannot reset but it does not vent and reset, then add a shim or two. If the bolt fires and sticks, or vents, or chuffs, shims will not help.Originally posted by CatoRockwellSo I took out all the shims and now it doesn't seem to be having the problem.

For your other problem, maybe you need a tighter carrier. Also, how old is your sear? Maybe it is worn a bit on the sear tip allowing the bolt to sit farther forward. I would check the carrier size first.Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

The xvalve is only 2 years old and it never had this problem with my intelli frame I'll try a tighter carrier though unfortunately since the marker didn't come with a carrier kit. Any other suggestions while I'm ordering a kit?
Edit: oh the sear. It looks in good
shape maybe I should just get it a little more snug to the body.

If it is the sear, you will see a tiny amount of wear at the tip where it catches the bolt. It doesn't take much. It could be that the sear you used with your intelliframe held the bolt back a bit farther.Originally posted by CatoRockwellThe xvalve is only 2 years old and it never had this problem with my intelli frame I'll try a tighter carrier though unfortunately since the marker didn't come with a carrier kit. Try this. Remove the emag sear assembly from your setup. Install your other retro sear. You should be able to shoot the mag manually. See if it has any leaking issues. If they go away, you will know it was the emag sear that was causing your problems. If they remain, then the leaking is most likely a carrier issue.Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

I know you are not supposed to need to tool tighten anything on a mag, but when I tightened the screw which keeps the bolt in the body the problem went away so far, maybe the sear is wearing out and just tightening it a little temporarily fixed the problem. Hopefully thats all I needed
I didn't think it was a carrier problem since my mag has been running fine for over a year. I'm guessing it was the sear going to take a closer look, I might post some pics so you guys can tell me if it's worn out.
