    Emag frame ripping out magnets

I picked up a spare emag frame in order to use my other emags electronics at a scenario a couple months ago (my other emags frame is with ptp). It worked fine but the trigger pull seemed much harder then it was on my other frame, I took out one of the magnets from the frame but it was still a very hard pull. A week after the scenario the top magnet in the trigger came right out, I thought it might have just been that the glue lost its grip on the magnet since it came with the frame and was pretty dirty. So I put the trigger from my other emag in it, and the top magnet was ripped out once again.

The frame doesnt appeared to have been milled at all, so I have no idea why the magnets would have both come out so easily or why the trigger pull became so hard (and It was to the point of being unwalkable). Is it possible that my magnets somehow became stronger?

it is possible that they bought their own magnets to use in the frame and that they are stronger than the normal magnets. I would suggest going to homedepot or any hardware store and picking up very small locking washers (the size of your magnet hole on top of the trigger frame), then take the washers and flatten 2 or 3 and put them under the magnet. this will shim it and make the strength of the magnet less strong and will allow you to adjust the pull strength by adding more or subtracting more shims

      ^^ i've allways used o-rings for this
Can a magnet get stronger over time ? the AGD magnets have a gold coating on them , mabey if that coating comes off ???

The magnets I put in mine are pretty strong. All of my gold magnets had deteriorated, so I used an epoxy coated magnet in the trigger. I tried using loctite to hold it in, but that didn't work very well. I picked up some loctite super glue gel and it has held. If your trigger magnet is too strong and you like an extra light pull, you can substitute steel for the top magnets. Or you can just buy new magnets from http://www.gaussboys.com Thats where I got mine.

Thats the thing, the magnets were from my origional frame. The gold plating has flaked off, but its so thin I doubt that plating controled the strength of the magnetivity, rather is more to prvent the magnet from crumbling.

Yup, thats right! They crumble pretty quick. Try http://www.gaussboys.com for replacements. You want a 6mm diameter disc. I bought the gold 1mm thick n48 and they are really strong. I only use one of them in the frame. The epoxy magnet was N42 6mm x2mm.

I'd probably buy a few of the N38 nickel magnets if I had to do it over.

/agree about the Orings also added a few pieces of paper wad to the mix

Don't know about the coating deal tho.
