    HPA fill nipples. question

I have a project that would benifit from a high rated fill valve. so after killing several brass shrader valves, i decided to look for something better. which lands me here. after remembering my fill nipples on my hpa tanks (which i dont own anymore). i decided it might work.
so the questions. the hpa fill nipples. will the needle push right out of the back of the body if there isnt something behind it?
CP sales some fill nipples that they call "self-contained" what does that mean? does that mean they dont come apart?
i just dont want a valve needle shooting inside of my nitrogen accumulators when i go to charge it.
any help would be great. thanks

I know some nipples the pin will come out the outher end, however I think there are a number of different kinds where it doesnt come out without screwing it out or something

Most fill nipples I've pulled out , the pin would just push out.

I dont know what you are going to be putting it in , but in an HPA regulator , the hole behind the fill nipple is VERY small. No way it could shoot into the tank.

It may be possible to put a 45 degree ( 4th row down centre ) or 90 degree elbow ( second row down centre " street" ) in the system and therefore the needle would not have anywhere to go. Also the brass pipe fittings ( 1/8 NPT ) "extender" ( fourth row down right column ) in the following link may have a smaller inside diameter than the back of the needle. Therefore it might also work. Look for examples of the fittings here >

Shop brass fittings, pipe fittings, hose barbs & flare fittings - street elbow, coupling, push-on hose barb, JIC, NPT - [email protected] 866-515-5481

Allot of guesses but its worth a trip to the hardware store.
