Lvl 10 Classic Valve Velocity Adjustment Problem

    Hello All -

I've been a mag owner for about 15 years, but I haven't seen, nor been able to figure out this problem yet. I picked up a classic valve with Level 10 upgrade off PBN. When I first aired it up, it shot fine, but I noticed that the velocity adjusting nut was screwed nearly all the way in. If I back the velocity out, the on/off pin won't "reset" the trigger. Essentially, I have about 1/4 of a turn on the velocity adjusting nut between insufficient pressure to fire the gun and over pressurizing the valve with air leaking out the back. Essentially a 1/16 of a turn results in about a 50 FPS change, and the velocity drops off very quickly (~100 shots after dialing it in over the chrono.) I've already replaced the spring pack, the regulator piston assembly, and the reg valve pin and spring. I've also gone thru the on/off and inspected and/or replaced each of the critical o-rings. Does anyone have any suggestions? This problem is independent of the air source used. (tried 2 separate tanks, both tanks work on my other mag with no problems.)

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!

Your spring pack is right side up? It sounds like that or some serious bolt stick.

How far does your bolt spring extend over the tip of the bolt?

Does your Lvl 10 bolt move well enough (do you have a lvl 10 kit?).

So after you replaced the piston your still leaking out the back? Do you have another classic that's not having this problem which you can swap the piston out of?

I do have another classic valve that I can swap parts with... right now my buddy has it though. The replacement piston that I used was brand new from AGD.

Spider-TW, spring pack is in correctly. I'll take a look at all your other questions and report back. I'll focus on the bolt and power tube rather than the reg.

        Thanks guys.

Brother. You need to fix your reg first before you do anything with the bolt. If your having velocity issues, any work on your bolt will be for nothing.

Is it safe to say the lvl 10 was just installed.? Talk with the guy you purchased it from.

Did you change the regulator seat oring? This is a critical oring when taking a valve apart. If it is older (has a small circular groove in its face) and you have had the valve apart, then it should be replaced.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.
