Bad reg piston or o-ring problem?

I'm starting to narrow down the problem with my mag.

The story:
1-When I first gas up my mag it will work fine and is very reactive.
2-After I go through a 1/2 tank of air, It gets less reactive and I can only pull off 2-3 shots at a time.
3-If I degas it and turn my tank back on I can do a few full-auto burst and then its back to 2-3 shots at a time.
4-Shortly after #3 it will start to leak out of the velocity adjustment hole in the back.
5-Then after some shots there will be a very very large leak out of the back of the gun.

The problem:
The gun only works right when the reg seat o-ring (#34) is put in the back part of the valve. There is nothing keeping the o-ring from coming out of the groove in the back of the valve, and going in the groove in the reg seat holder (#32)
My theory is, when the o-ring gets pushed in the reg seat holder, it allows too much pressure in the gun and opens the valve in the reg piston which leaks out of the back of the gun. or the reg piston is bad and vents air out of the back of the gun at the wrong pressure.

This is a temp fix BTW. It'll get you through the week till you order a new one so get with Tuna ASAP.

There's a slew of people on the forums that will vouch for this fix. How long will the repair last is UNK since all mine are still going strong. I did mine many moons ago but have spares just in case. It would behoove you to do the same.

Everything you mentioned in your "Story" is classic case of starving your valve. You need to up your velocity but can't cause your piston is Tango Uniform ATM.

Edit:

Your bolt not resting could be a different issue all together and more then likely due to insufficient velocity. Lets get the piston fixed/replaced first then we'll work on the bolt issue. Did you just install a lvl 10?

I can't get air until Thursday, so I'll post up the results then.
Is there anyway I can stop the reg piston from opening all together? I'm not trying to shoot hot, I just don't want to run into any more problems with this thing.

In all honesty you can pretty much maul the piston up as long as you don't mess up the area where the oring sits. The rest of the body can be blended with a small jewelers file if your pliers dug into the piston.

I tightened the set screw too much and broke off the top part.

I just put in the new reg piston and so far no problems.
