Alrighty, a guy tells me I can get 900 shots off a 68/3k... is that possible?

if depends on the gun, you can't just say a tank will get you so many shots, what will your output and input be? A 68/3k running a about 700psi will get about 950-1150 shots a fill

on ALL guns and tanks it works the same way, the tank size and capacity VS. the guns input and operating pressure, no if ands or buts about it.

One variable to your equation Havoc.
Volume.
the pressure may be the same but if the volume is higher then your flow rate is still more.
fill a bucket with 50 PSi of water coming out of a garden hose. Then fill it with 50 PSI out of a firehose.
your flow rate has been changed. I know that this is not the best analogy, but it's the easiest to explain.

if you read, by me saying input of the gun, that means output of the tank. Flow rates I think would be safe to say are the same due to the fact that there are universal gun/tank adaptors that would'nt allow much of a garden hose/ fire hose differance, only an output pressue differance

thx havoc... so basically unless I get an adjustable I'm screwed eh, cause presets are like 850 output :\

for one it depends on the tank, some presets are preset differently
for two, you can get a reg on your gun, run the line of the tank to the reg on your gun, from the reg to your valve, you can lower your guns input with the reg making the tank last longer.
it depends on what you want to do, buy a tank and reg, or just a tank with a reg
or maybe you already have one or the other, hope this helps man.

all good tanks will have a higher flow rate than the gun. The guns flow rate is what will affect efficiency. If you have a gun that takes 800 psi but sips air then you can have a reasonably effecient gun compared to one that is using 200 psi and leaves the valve open for 3 seconds to make sure the ball is out of the barrel.Originally posted by Havoc_online

To answer Crizo's original question. I agree with Havoc that, yes, that effeciency can be reached with a proper setup on the right gun. I am trying to achieve some pretty ridiculous numbers with my cocker right now. I aspire to get a case of paint through my cocker with a 45/45. I am not sure I can do it.

and BTW... wouldn't one have to read to take part in an electronic forum such as this?minimag #1321

I have to agree with banzaimf on this one. The output of the tank has little to do with the volume of air the gun uses to shoot the paintball. Unfotunately, our favorite little mags tend to be a bit on the hungry side when it comes to air.
Take the Shocker for instance, it runs at about 600psi, but uses a LOT of air to propel the paint. Shocker owners have to gas up more frequently than the owners of most other marker owners.Coming Soon to a Bunker Near You!

OPERATING PRESSURE
wow, that's pretty odd, I thought what I said had covered it but according to your comment operating pressure has nothing to do with the volume of the gun, funny, I thought it did, I thought I BASICLY gave it all, I guess not, sorry.

it depends on barrel, velocity, operating pressure, dump chamber volume, and tank output pressure. a simple example for the air efficiency you should get with a 3k/68 is about 600 shots at about 280fps my brother gets 900 shots with a cocker at the same velocity a more efficient barrel and 700psi output on my mag I use 850psi outputZ-griped, warped, retromag with super bolt, and warpleft polished body, freak kit and flatline 3k
