As far as single trigger grip frames go, what do you guys think about the Benchmark frame compared to the stock cf frame on classic automags? Worthwhile upgrade or not?

Well, there are a lot more grip options for a 45 frame so you could do something rubber/wood/aluminum or otherwise custom(or non-stock) in appearance and feeling. You can also put a more comfortable trigger shoe on there. To be honest, it's a matter of preference when it comes to feeling, looks, and grip panel desires.Originally posted by SoonersddsAs far as single trigger grip frames go, what do you guys think about the Benchmark frame compared to the stock cf frame on classic automags? Some people find Benchmark frames to be sloppy (need shimming to reduce side-to-side play, uncrisp trigger pull with stock trigger no matter how finely tuned) but I've always enjoyed them. Frankly, they make the best single trigger .45 frame for Automags, and have the most options, setups, and colors available or any company out there making after market AGD parts.

Frizzle-fa-shizzle is right, the Benchy .45 gives you the widest array of grip choices out there. Literally anything made to fit the Colt 1911 .45 will fit it. The single trigger Benchy definately adds an old school tough to a mag. As far as the trigger pull, it does initially have alot of 'slop', that is side to side play and a long pull compared to the stock sigle trigger frame. However, the side to side play can be shimmed, but I found the thinnest shims I could find in Nashville and they were still too thick to fit in the frame. What I did was the old scotch tape mod. I wrapped two pieces of tape over the both sides of the trigger where it fits inside the rail and made it nice and snug with no side wiggle. I also added a couple thumb screw washers to my front frame screw and it's large enough that my trigger will actually stop against it instead of going all the way forward to stop against the rail.
The actual trigger pull is long and soft..
However, with an RT or X-valve and a good tank reg it beomes much snappier, bouncy. I run my MaxFlo at 900psi so it stays semi only but has that nice return bounce for quick shots.
I do like the trigger break feel of the stock carbon single trigger frame, very short and crisp. With a clasic valve mag I'm told it's even better by swapping the stock on/off with an RT on/off. However, I HATE the 'plastic' cf trigger feel and the frame itself. I would like to one day get a hold of one of the original cast aluminum mag trigger frames with an actual metal trigger. That could be real nice.
