I thought I had seen valve backs that had been milled down before? Reason I ask is that I have an ANS back on a Micromag valve that I would like to have someone mill down at least enough to take the ANS engravings off of it. I think it would make for a cleaner look. Does anyone do this? or willing to do this?
Milling down valve back?

What you saw may have been an Air America Raptor piece on there.

You can take the top half (the tapered part) off and put it on the back of a mag regulator. It uses the same threading and components. As far as your valve. I'm sure at least a small amount of metal can be taken off just to make it smooth. -
Oddly enough I have one of those sitting here next to me that I was looking at. Problem is, I need to use it on one of my tanks. I would really rather just have the back milled a bit. May have to contact Luke to see if he would do such a thing.Comment

I've seen valves milled too. Luke is doing 2 classics for me. I'll post pics of the job once I get it back. I live in Maryland and mail hasn't moved in about 2-3 days so no telling when I'll get it sent off to him.
We're snowed in like crazy.

I guess I will have to weigh the cost to get mine milled down vs the cost of buying this. I had plans already to send some stuff Lukes way, so might be cheaper to just send it to him. IISports pretty much rapes you on shipping..... it can't cost more than $2.00 to ship that via USPS. And they wont combine shipping. I ended up paying nearly $20 in shipping alone to get a Kapp style Cradle and "upgrade" kit a few months back from them.Last edited by OPBN; 02-11-2010, 01:05 PM.Comment

very true, i bought some stuff for another member who lives out of states and he then paid me the total for the items i bought plus shipping to me then to him it was kinda crazy how much it was in the end. on top of that most of the stuff he wanted was from II and they dont combine shipping although they all come in the same box so it cost the same amount to ship from US to overseas as it did from California to Indiana
i would ask Luke what he would charge cause if you are gonna do it I would rather pay one of our ppl here rather than their stupid shipping charge2k2 Angel LCD
