    Valve sticking...

    Hi everyone,

I just sold an X valve, with an RT on off. Before I sent it, the valve was pretty reactive. The person received it and says that the on off pin is sticking. He tried to lube it and tried other o rings in the on off assembly, but it is still sticking. Anyone know what it could be? I have heard of issues arising because of shipping, but I figured that a little oil should do the trick. That isn't working though. Any advice would be very helpful at this point. Thanks everyone!!

Is it a quad oring? Replace it if it's not...Replace it if it is. Should fix the problem.

Well if one can localize the cause of the sticking, just take that area apart and lube with dow33 (shocker lube) and be on your merry way,

Why should you put a Quad in it , if is not a E Mag ? , doesn't a Quad actually ( essentially ) change the length of the pin , due to where the sealing surface is ?

Doesn't air PSI reset the on/off pin ? , are you running a HP reg ?

Have you tried turning the velocity up?

A good test for the on/off friction / reactivity is to keep the pressure low and using the mag in mech mode see if as you push on the pin, that the pressure pushes back. Its not going to fire with the pressure that low of course, but you can check the on/off for workability.

Basically this is the same scenario when you turn off your tank still in the asa and fire one shot, then it wont fire any more, but the trigger rod still has pressure on the trigger.

I thought that it might be the velocity too. It is possible that it is low. I didn't chrono it prior to sending it out.

Any chance that this could be related to the sear arm length? If it is not long enough, it may not be triggering the on off pin enough. Just an idea.

That, and if there is any significant altitude difference between locations, some 'settings' can change.

Given that these work on pressure differentials, and atmospheric pressure differs slightly from location to location.

I don't think the sear arm would effect this.

My bad dude. I was reading another thread along with yours. My advice still stands tho, replace the orings. Nothing else is going to cause sticking in the on/off, that's all there is

Bolt stick will cause this. Check the level 10 tuning.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

^^^ What he said. Check your carrier spacer and swap those o-rings. Use plenty of oil!
