    Xmod Tuning?

Are there any threads about tuning a Emag with the Xmod software? As in ideal settings for dwell and what some of the other settings are in it?

Finally got my emag working properly but it seems to be chuffing a lot.

Your plunger might be out of wack. I got a set of lowers from a guy who couldn't get them working in E-Mode and was chuffing about every other shot. Come to find out he really screwed the pooch with the plunger and sear arm. I set everything to nominal and shot like a dream.

Another thing that could be causing chuffing is your Lvl 10 not set right, worn detents and/or spring, also your hopper not keeping up with your marker. We'll need a little more info to pin point the cause tho.

Best way to ck your valve and detents is swap over to mech and see if your still getting the chuff. If it's working fine, then you basically pinpointed your problem to your lowers and you'll need to do some adj to your plunger more then likely. If you're still getting the chuffing in mech mode then you need to take care of that first before you get into E-mode.

If you can't find what you need at bigevil.com. Register here...

...and download the X-Mod manual. There's a section that will tell you the dimensions of your plunger and sear arm.

Apparently nothing at all was wrong with the electronics beyond my not understanding HOW the solenoid fired. Most of my experience with electros comes from spyders which PUSH the solenoid rod not PULL it like the emag solenoid does. So I just couldn't tell it was working till I pushed down on the back of the sear so the solenoid would actually DO something.

I DO need to tune the lvl X... It leaks down the barrel a bit when set in mech mode, firing the marker will correct the leak but every other shot or so it'll go back to leaking down the barrel again. It seems to WANT to RT but it's very touchy about it.

In E-mode is just... sounds really funny. Maybe a can get a recording of it uploaded to see what you guys think it might be.. I can't really even think of how to describe the way it sounds.. but I think it's just chuffing repeatedly.

Yeah, what ando said. Check that with no air, the plunger can move freely. If you tilt the gun, the plunger should move free back and forth at about 50*

You know how the lvl 10 carriers work? Make sure it isn't a shim leak first. Pull them all out and see if it's still leaking. If it is, use the same oring and go down a carrier size. Example...If your currently using the carrier with 2 lines and a dot. You want to go down to the carrier with just 2 lines then recheck for a leak. Just make sure your using the same oring....Very important.

If it does stop leaking with all the shims out. Put them all back in but 1 and ck for the leak again.

Keep performing either processes (removing shims or going to a smaller carrier) till the leak stops.

Its working great up to 20bps then promptly turns into a blender upon the first chop. So I'm thinking the lvl X needs tuning.

Set your DWEL to 15 and FIX to about 30-35 and see what you get. After about 20-25 bps, the marker gets finicky in E-mode. You really need to know the in's and out's of the marker to get to going (reliably) any faster. You'll have to fine tune it....ie...adj your plunger ever so slightly up and down till you get it spot on. It take a bit to get it right and you'll need calipers to ck your measurements. I manged to tune a ULT with my lowers so I'm able to hit the higher end of the ROF spectrum with minimal dicking around with the plunger.

This is where you get to really learn your markers potential. Just tinker with it, you'll get it going eventually.

Oh yes, I believe this is where the fun really starts. I want to get ULT and have the trigger mod done... and get trigger stops installed (if possible). I want these done mostly for mechanical mode. But all of that will wait for a little while.. I wanna learn more about tuning the lvl x and tinkering with the other settings first.

I also noticed as soon as I hit 1k psi left in my tank that was it, it started to sputter and spit and carry on that it didn't have enough air to work right.

Your gauge might be off. That shouldn't happen till you get about 7-800 psi.

It's doing that on multiple tanks with different regs on'em.
