Shootdown with 6 shims in ult

I'm getting a lot of shootdown with my ult. When I try to walk it some of the balls will only go 10' and I end up getting bolt stick. Its cool to see the balls smashing into each other 2 feet out the barrel, but its not very helpful in a game.
With 6 shims the ult starts going full auto, which makes a burning smell.

What are you using for oil?

What kind of HPA bottle do you have?

Your bolt stick is either the level 10 that needs a bit more fine tuning or your ULT has too many shims. If the ULT is causing a timing issue, it will slow down the bolt cycle and it could definately cause shootdown. I'd take a shim or two out of the ULT first, and try that.

Ive never been able to get beyond 4 shims without problems,....

I run 4 in my ULT and gets rapid firing with a nice soft trigger pull

I tried it with 3 and 4 shims and I'm still getting some bolt stick and lots of leaks. I finally put a few thousand shots through the gun so I will try to finish fine tuning the level 10.
With 3 and 4 shims I can't walk the trigger very much.
I'm using autolube and gold cup oil.

I might not be giving solid trigger pulls when I try to walk it, which might be the problem?

Leaks aren't a result of shims in the ULT, especially if it leaks with only 3 or 4 installed. Something else is causing that.

does it do this when you are steadily shooting slow, or only when trying to walk it?
if you are dragging your fingers and not letting the trigger fully reset before pulling it again, you would get underpowered shots that wouldnt go far, and might be hit by other full speed balls
