The level 10 isn't made for barrels smaller than 0.685". The tip is too large.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

Then how do you guys deal with paint smaller than .685? And do you think this is the root cause then?

Ramming the bolt into a barrel isn't going to help it, but I wouldn't have guessed that the rest of your problems were caused by it. It certainly has marks on the front that indicates that it is hard on it. Did you check to see if the stem is bent?

I shoot everything with a large 0.696" bore barrel. I don't worry about small paint. With tiny paint like that, I would probably drop down a few barrel sizes, but I wouldn't worry about shooting with a larger barrel, say 0.687".

Hm... alright. Does anyone want to trade a new practically flawless microshot for a .685 bigshot? I'm actually serious

alright, well seeing how I can't afford to have tuna get my gun back to me in a week after factoring in shipping and other costs, I think I'm just gonna skip on my friends this weekend. oh well Tuna you can take your time.... as long as i get the gun back by NEXT weekend lol

Take a little emery cloth and open up enough of the back of that barrel to allow the bolt to move in freely. It wont hurt anything. Start with a med grit and work you way up to a light one to smooth the inside.

Alright, I'm packing up the gun and shipping it out tonight. Hopefully Tuna can get this figured out...

Does the bolt travel that far down the breach, enough to actually go into the barrel like that? I don't have a X-Mag to see for myself but you still have to account for the thickness of the spring which is going to half the travel of the bolt into the breach.

Besides. The problem you're having is the lvl 10 not resting properly. The vid you made shooting the marker had no problems that I could see until you stuck your finger down the breach to trip the lvl 10 and you started getting reset issues.

I'm not buying the barrel theory at all. Is there damage on the barrel from the bolt hitting it? If there isn't, i would have to say its not the barrel. Put something on the back of the barrel that will mark the tip of the bolt like chalk or better yet Kiwi (the stuff you shine boots with) and actually test out your theory before blaming the barrel or slap on a larger size barrel and see if all your problems go away. Did you already swap out the bolt itself?

You also mentions in your vid about your markers shredding paint. I would look at your detentes, barrel to paint size and/or slide your finger down and around the breach to feel for any burrs that could cut the balls.

I agree I don't see how the bolt is hitting that far into the barrel, I use a freak kit and I have no problems with my .682 insert. and no the bolt wont slide into the insert i checked.

Put the spring on the bolt and do the same demonstration, pushing the bolt into the breach with a spring on it, I think you will find it stops before the barrel.

I also feel that the barrel is not the issue. I believe that the X-mag breech keeps the barrel from screwing that far into the front of the body. Remember that the barrel holds the breech in place.

As Tuna stated, the wear on the power tube tip indicates a bent bolt stem to me. There is no other way that the tube should be hitting the inside of the bolt. Can you see any marks on the inside of the bolt, maybe a little brass residue left by the power tube tip.
                        ......You know you want one!!

Well, it's in the hands of Tuna now. I sent the gun to him about 1 week ago, and I'm actually still waiting on his confirmation that he even received the gun... It would make me feel much better to get a message from him saying that it's in his hands now. I've never been a fan of mailing an approximately $1,000 dollar gun around :/
