    Question about Spyder maintenance

I know that this is mainly a Mag section, but I thought that pick your brains.

Would it be okay to use lube instead of oil on the striker on a Spyer marker? The reason is that I have a huge tub of Slick Honey that I will never be able to use up. And I wanted to know if using a lube on the striker will make it shoot smoother. I wouldn't want to use it if it caused any cocking issues. Any experienced Spyder users out there that can give me some insight?

Never owned a spyder but seeing as to how the o-rings in them are the same as pretty much every other marker in the world going to go ahead and say go for it. I don't think you'll see any over-all improvement in performance by greasing the striker but it wouldn't hurt.

Plus if by any chance you do lose performance you can always take it all back apart and simply clean the grease off.

Lube is not good where dirt can get in. It will then allow the dirt to wear against the moving parts and cause tolerance issues. Also using the wrong type of lube may expand the hammer o-ring causing the marker not to re-cock. Just an FYI on older Spyders the hammer o-ring is a little bigger than a bottle o-ring....

you can use it but it wont be as good. itll gum up real quick with crap. on my spyders the only part that gets good lube is the valve, every other part gets oil.
