    Slide check and starvation?

Setting up a new marker using an Emag valve with ult. For an air source I wanted to use the old splash ASA, so I put a slide check from a remote as an on/off between the ASA and front grip. Seems to work alright so far, haven't chronoed or even put paint through it, but was wondering about the slide check possibly starving the valve? The holes in it for the air flow seem REALLY small. In firing, there definitely is a difference in the sound of the first shot from the others. If the weather clears up, I'll get out and chrono it and see if there really is a difference, but just curious if anyone had experience with this?

Honestly I wouldn't see how it could make a difference where it's placed as long as you place it before the regulator.

I run remote on my mags and use a slide check on the remote with no problems.

I mean. It has to let through the same amount of air regardless of where you use it, I don't see how it could cause a bottle neck on one side of the ASA but not on the other side.

But then I'm also not an expert on these things.

It's effectively adding x4 90* turns to your air path, and yes the holes may act as restrictions.

As to how much of an issue? If you're not trying to RT you should be fine. If you have an adjustable tank, you might crank it up a touch.

Not trying to RT it. Took it apart to make some adjustments, put it back together and it seems to have a hard time keeping up. If I just do 1 pull/second it seems fine, but if I increase the ROF it starts lagging. And now my only screw on tank is empty.

Eventually, I would like to set this marker up as a Pneu mag. Would I be better off going ahead and getting a ball valve or Pro connect instead of the slide check for increase airflow?

Pro-connect may help you. That's what I've used for years on my remote RT and I could RT on it.

I have a stainless slide check on my RT setup. I also ran it without one and also on an old brass slide check for a while. I didn't notice any difference in the reg pressure settings. If I had, I would have been tempted to drill it out. :)

The one I am using is brass with a chrome slide cover. I thought about drilling the holes out to increase airflow, but wasn't sure if that would cause any issues. I figured they were small holes for a reason...

It would definitely be harder on the orings at least. You can take it out for a day and try it, then put it back in to see if it is a problem.
