Refresh my memory - Level 10 Sensitivity

Ok, I need a refresher. I've been breaking a lot of paint with my Tac One (x-valve, level 10). I took a look at my valve and noticed that the original spring (short gold spring) is almost flush with the bolt.

Is this the cause of my recent woes? I've replaced the old gold spring with the red spring. But I haven't had a chance to use it yet.

yeah your chopping because the spring is worn (most likely)

lvl 10 works like a teeter-totter. chops are prevented by a delicate balance between the low-pressure portion of the shot just being enough to barely over-come the spring tension before the high pressure portion of the shot.

The red spring will work, you'll just need to turn up the regulator in order for the bolt to have enough force behind it to over-come the tension.

    Does this answer your question?

Yep. That's what I thought. I just wanted confirmation.

By the way, does anyone use the longer silver spring? I would imagine it's hard to get the velocity over 280 fps.

That silver spring is actually used for custom jobs. You cut it little by little until you get the length that works for you.

I once had a barrel combination that allowed me to shoot below 300 fps using the long silver spring. It didn't allow for any changes in operation though. I prefer the red spring. It seems to be the one that gives the best overall softness and usability for most barrel setups.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.
