    X valve on/off question

I just picked up an X valve, popped it into my minimag, and when I gas it up, it goes into turbo mode and just keeps firing. Apparently there is an E-mag on/of assembly in the X valve which I think could be the problem. I am using a mechanical RPG Chimera frame with the stock Minimag sear. Any suggestions?

    Thanks

    Oil it for starters.

Do you have a different on/off you can swap out in it?

You probably need a longer on/off pin. The one in there (if it's an e-mag on/off) should be .715 inches. Standard on/off pins are .750 inches (which is probably what you'll need). You won't need to change anything else with the on/off, just get the new pin.

I have an on/off from the classic minimag valve (including the pin). Can they be swapped out with each other?

I don't think so, but I'm not sure. I know that you can put the X-Valve/RT on/off in an AutoMag/MiniMag valve, but I don't think they can go the other way. I know that the parts of the on/offs (pins, for example) are NOT swappable.

Alrighty. Do you think my best bet would be to buy a ULT kit to replace the emag on/off, or to try to find just the longer pin?

Thank you for your replies, i appreciate it.

You can't use a classic on/off pin in a RT on/off assy. As for your other Q. That's up to you. The ULT will be more expensive.

                Okay, thats good to know.

Will the ULT more than likely fix my problem?

I'd say more than likely. But you may want to check your sear also for wear. Basically, the reason mags go full auto is because the sear is not catching the bolt. If your on/off pin is too short, it's not pushing on the sear enough and rocking it forward enough to catch the bolt. However, the same thing can happen if the front of the sear (where it catches the bolt) is worn down. So, if it's an issue with the on/off, then yes, the ULT should solve it. If it's a problem with the sear, then you'll need a new sear.

A 0.712" pin should work in an X-valve. It may be a bit reactive, but it shouldn't go full auto. Check your on-off top orings. Make sure both of them are in place, one inside the other. Full auto is often a result of a missing or damaged oring. If it is the shorter emag pin, it should be using the black quad oring inside the urethane oring.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.
