    Storing a Automag

When you leave a Automag sitting, and unused for months at a time, should you remove the valve and release the pressure on the bolt spring?? I know on a lot of other things with high pressure springs, they say not to leave compressed.

I store mine uncompressed when put away for many years, but I keep my mags stored with the valves and springs in them when not in use though out the year. The spring is compressed, but only slightly. The real wear on the spring is caused by the constant compression and release cycle. Compressing and decompressing the spring wears it more than just leaving it compressed.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

That's my understanding as well. Changing the spring load is what wears it.

How about orings? Store wet or dry?

Just as a reference I had a classic valve mag go unused for about 3 years. Then I used it once, put it back and didn't use it again for about 3 or 4 more years.

The o-rings were a little screwed up from age, but that's probably because I was using gun oil instead of marker oil. I didn't know at the time it's bad for o-rings. I replaced the full set of o-rings with a parts kit.

The spring, however, was in excellent condition. It's just as long as the brand new one and just as stiff. It's a bit tarnished, but I have no reason to think it wouldn't work well.

Don't use the mag oil that comes with the marker. It will gum up, turn a green color and is a pain in the A double S to clean off.

Find yourself some Triflow (I'm sure there's others that will work too but your guess is as good as mine), fill the QD at the valve up with it and fire 2-4 times. It'll preserve the oring for a very long time. Make sure your spring pack is freshly oiled/greased up too or it'll rust on you like the pic below. No love for the Geddon

I got out of the game for a good 6+ years, came back and didn't have to replace a single seal. My bumper turned to goo though, not sure how that happened.

When I first used my uncles mag, it had sat untouched for 9 years, with the valve inplace so the spring was compressed. Had no problems.
