    pnue mag tech question

So I got a pnue mag in a trade and it has some issues. First there is a bolt/down the barrel leak, I can push the bolt back and it will stop and stay in the open breach position. Second it sounds as if the pnue part of the trigger work but there is no shot or cycle. I assuming there is a spring that should be on the back part of the sear, which I dont have, to keep the sear up. I'm hoping the bolt issue is sear related. Hope I'm on the right path.

    Its my first mag also.

No spring for the sear. Air pressure on the on/off pin resets the sear.

Bolt problem is probably "bolt stick". There's lots of threads on it here, you may just need oil. Have you oiled the mag?

Sounds like you've watched the pneus on the sear, this is good. You may need to turn up the lpr. Be careful with that. Popping hoses off on some setups can be a pain.

If the mag has been sitting around for a while, it may be a little sticky in both of those places.

looking at the pics and i see it has an X-valve. More than likely it needs to be tuned again and oiled as well. There are plenty of threads on how to tune your lvl 10 bolt. (thats whats sticking.) As for the trigger issues it can be hard to say when the valve isnt shooting right. could be a number of things...

I'm a cocker person and mag are expensive, had a couple a deal fall though but its first mag I have ever held or shoot, long over due.

I got it cycling and shooting, when I really rail on the trigger it skips/short stokes some. This is lvl ten issue? Hate being a noob again...

edit: It a HP tank dont know what output pressure is though.

Ok so good point but i dont think its it. Mags run on 800-900 psi so it is best to have a high pressure output tank. If you have a LP tank you would never be able to get any speed out of it without chuffing every shot.

Now for the skips/short strokes, from looking at the pics i saw i'd say it has to do with trigger return in some way. First off pneu's have there own distink feel to them. It took me a little bit to learn the best way to do it.

The trigger pull is so short that it is WAY TO EASY to short stroke. You need to learn to fully relase the trigg before pulling. Some people hAve put magnets behind the trigg or some where to help the trigg reset better. I've seen people use springs and such. it will take you some getting used to thats for sure....

Hey Fearless_Leader, good to see you've entered the Mag world!!

I was in the same boat as you earlier last winter; plenty of cocker experience, but had hardly ever even seen a Mag, let alone shot one.

What that setup is begging for is a magnet mod. Mine chuffed like crazy until I put the magnet mod in. (Got it from Mag 79 on here) What this does is to help make the MSV-2 lever a lot more snappy, which helps to correct some of the "lazy finger" syndrome that most people have from shooting electros.

Another thing that helps is to adjust the trigger stop so that the trigger only goes back a hair after the MSV-2 has activated. If you have too much over-pull, the sear won't reset until the trigger has gone back forward all that distance, and you're more likely to pull the trigger again before it resets all the way. This helped me immensely.

Also, do you know what on/off your gun has? If it has a ULT, they can be finnicky, because they allow for a softer pull, at the expense of a slower recharge time. RT on/offs have a faster recharge time, but will need more pressure from the lpr to trip the sear.

I agree with the magnets needing to be added though, It has a very short lever so it may be kinda tough to get magnets on there. But you should see what can be done with that...
