    RT Regulator Valve Pin Assembly

    Hi All,

In cleaning up my new old classic RT, I found the reg valve pin assembly difficult to extract. With enough force it eventually came out, but I managed to pull off the tiny c-clip and scatter pieces all over the place.

Is this a part that can be repaired, or should I just get a new one? I'm guessing it's usually the latter, since AGD sells it as a complete assembly. Does that mean it's generally not a wear part?

Working from the c-clip forward, I have an oring, a plastic spacer, another oring, a brass spacer, and 9 tiny black spacers (?). I could easily have lost more of the tiny black ones and have no idea which way they're supposed to go on.

Perhaps the simple answer is that I should just buy a whole new one, but any input would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

These black spacers are actually cup springs. They alternate center to center and edge to edge and can be doubled up to increase spring constant. These springs need to be strong enough so that the input pressure variations don't affect the overall force on the regulator assembly itself or the mag velocity settings would vary by input pressure to the valve.

If you happen to have lost one or more of these springs, then your valve won't regulate properly. They aren't designed to be a user serviceable part, so your best bet is to get another valve pin assembly.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

Thanks for the info. I found ten, which looks like the right number given the pictures I've seen, but if any were doubled up that could easily be wrong.

I noticed that the X-Valve parts kit supposedly includes the c-clip for this piece, so it mustn't be completely non-user-serviceable.

The C-clip referred to in the parts kit is the plastic split ring that goes between the two orings on the valve pin assembly. You probably need a metal one. It can probably be purchased at a local shop.

The cup springs are either all single or all doubled, not mixed. I think they are single, back to back. I haven't counted them.
