Best Regulator/Expansion Chamber for Classic Mag?

Hey all, thanks for taking a look at my question.

I have a classic mag and was wondering what the best regulator or expansion chamber to use would be.

i was running HPA on it with a WGP Ergo regulator but that never seemed to work that well.

i used CO2 on it for a while after that and the performance seemed to be a bit better but it was still going through Ergo reg.

So should i rock HPA or CO2 & what should i be putting it through?
well it all started with me and the Cheat one day...

there is no need to run another reg when running hpa.
i highly reccomend just running a gasthrough ans hpa

That second reg is what's hurting your performance. Pull that off. I don't even like gas-thru grips that much, at least not to connect air to. Just run a long macroline from your ASA to your valve.

If you really want an expansion chamber make sure it's a true expansion chamber, not just a volumizer.

A good x-chamber has a lot of surface area for heat transfer. Look for a multi-stage volumizer for a cheaper option that's still good, but ideally you want one that's got beads or filaments inside that create heat transfer to boil off liquid.

Agree with the above responses. Mags are designed to run at 650+ psi, and work even better at 800+. The high pressure regulators you are referring to are designed to lower the input pressure down below 4-500 psi for use with other guns like AutoCockers and the like that are designed to run on the lower pressures (my cocker runs around 200 psi). By putting a regulator on your gun, you are going to starve the valve for air. The AutoMag valve is in and of itself one of the best regulators ever made. Pair that with a HPA tank regulator (the reg that's on your tank that is supplying a constant output pressure), and you're set. The only reason you'd need an expansion chamber is if you're using CO2. This is only to keep the liquid CO2 from entering the gun and messing with the o-rings. Get a gas-thru or just a fore-grip and you're good to go.

Okay, so after reading what u guys said, i dindt have an asa setup on the gun so i screwed a tank (88/4500 PE) directly into the vert ASA. and i was having issues with shootdown and general inconsistency. today i took off the gas thru grip from a piranha and had a full normal setup and put the same tank in and i went thru the hopper without a single problem. does giving the air that extra sapce to move thru do anything to it/whats the difference between putting it on the vert asa vs one under the grip frame and letting it travel tru the gas thru grip?
