I've heard that pariah bodies are just cut UL's? Is this true, and how much shorter is a pariah body than a UL? I would assume they just cut the front a bit right?

Both the pariah and exile bodies are cut down ULE bodies.
IIRC the exile body is cut in such a way that the over all length is the same as stock so it covers up the front of an emag rail. The pariah body is cut a lot shorter, so that its just a little longer, or flush with (I can remember), the front of the stock AM/MM rails.Comment

if you look at the ULE bodies, the threads are quite recessed in the body. no re-taping or anything required.Comment

Yep, the threading is recessed, with a bit of "vanity shroud" in the front so it looks cleaner on an RT Pro or Emag rail.Comment

IF you want to cut down your ULE, which is what I'm guessing from your question, just measure on the inside to 1/8" from where the threads start, and cut there. Take a light file and smooth out the edges afterward. Then hit the edge with some light sandpaper, and hit it with a black sharpie to make everything black afterward.
It looks like Rogue re-annoed his afterwards, otherwise, I'm not sure how he got such a nice black color on the edge.
Having done this procedure twice, I feel qualified to talk:

If the front of the body doesn't line up where you want it after you cut it (for instance, my two bodies still have a tiny overhang over the front of the rail), just use a rough file to grind the front of the body down till its where you want it to be, then light sandpaper, then sharpie.
Or just go use a mill, if you're lucky enough to have acccess to one
(not me, I did it with a hacksaw and sandpaper.)

This is exactally where I was going- I have a polished ULE body coming that I'm going to slice + dice on my mill, polish again, and then resell to finance some other projects of mine. You should just make your own design on it. The pariah and exile are to plain IMO do something different.Comment

The pariah is probably easier to do since you would just knock off the entire front section in one pass (or some minor extra ones to get the depth right.)Originally posted by DrixThis is exactally where I was going- I have a polished ULE body coming that I'm going to slice + dice on my mill, polish again, and then resell to finance some other projects of mine. With the Exile, you'd have to figure out the right amount of longitudinal material to remove, as well as vertical material.
Your best bet might be to just offer up a Pariah or Exile body in the ForSale section for whatever reasonable price, and see who wants what, and then knock out whatever body your buyer wants.Comment
