    on/off top question

i got my gun used and when i took it apart to clean i noticed my on/off top has one wide end and one narrow end.
sorry about the crap illustration but it bascially looks like this. My question is which way should it face? Narrow side touching the on/of bottom or Wide side touching the on/off bottom?

The larger flat side should be on top, contacting the o-ring. If your gun doesn't work right, try the other way. :)

i remember hearing about agd having the on/off like that. i think it is a level 6 gun or older. you may have trouble with people on the forum nowing what your talking about because most people any more have a level 7. you might want to call agd. what is the first couple of serial # on the valve. because thats a real old gun.
Sorry for the spelling. Im still working on it.

Does it look something like the on/off top shown in the following links?

If so, then the narrow end touches the on/off bottom. The wide end goes all the way up inside the on/off chamber, and rests up against two concentric o-rings. The outer o-ring is made of urethane and the inner o-ring is made of teflon.

Out of curiosity, with a serial number so low, does your automag have a spiral clip holding the front power tube assembly to the rest of the valve body?

answer to predater question-no i dont know when it was originally bought and i do plan to keep it :) thats why i am trying to fix it hehe.

answer to bjjb99-nope my on/off top looks nuttin like those pics and no there is no spiral clip holding the power tube to the valve body...maybe the previous owner got a new valve b4 he sold it.

                        on off top

Send that gun to agd and they will rebuild it to level 7 and only charge a small fee.

personally i would keep that valve the way it is just because it is a classic and buy a retro for actual use. it would cost more and most people would rather send it in but i would keep it just the way it is. well only if you can get it up and running.:)

                            keep it classic

That make sense, but agd constanly makes improvements for a reason, so i would let them rebuild it to a level 7, There are all kinds a of old guns out there. It is not like he is going to put it in a museum. Lets play some paintball.

res. i understand that. but if he got a retro it would be beter than level 7 and he would still have the classic valve.

its his money thow and i figure he will send it in to be updated. i just thaught i would tell what i would do and why.
