Another dumb question... If I can get my hands on an Air America adjustable reg, can I have it installed on any tank? And do they go bad at all over time or is it just the actual tank that needs re-hydro'd every 5 years?

3 methods:
1) you could just disconnect the reg halves when you're ready to de-gass. But that'll release a bunch of gas and is questionable
2) You could back off the set screw to dial the output pressure to zero then unscrew the tank.
3) Install a 1/4 turn ball valve on the discharge line. It'll probably leak by over long periods of time, but for short term it'll work.

You could. Shouldn't be a problem if you're running a classic valve. Can be a bottle neck if you're running an pneu'ed valve or heavy RT. Their air passegaes are very small.Originally posted by kit352seems like a pro-connect is the way to go. it only 20 bucks and many people say they are the best.
That said, I've run one for years. Actually, I just got a Proconnect 3 and since they're easy to disassemble I was able to open up the air passages on the poppet some. That seems to help.

So basically I should run a remote with a slide check and when I wanna de-gas the gun, turn the front screw all the way to the left to reduce pressure until it's loose and then release the excess pressure with my slide check??? Would hat work? I've never actually seen the Armageddon in action. What about LukeCustoms turn knob instead of using an Allen wrench? Are these regs really that good?

A remote with an slide check on/off should work. In fact, I have both a remote with slide check and an Air America Raptor (4500) sitting here that I would be interested in selling. PM me if interested.Originally posted by gmiller0So basically I should run a remote with a slide check and when I wanna de-gas the gun, turn the front screw all the way to the left to reduce pressure until it's loose and then release the excess pressure with my slide check??? That on the other port of your Geddon and your all set. You must turn off the pressure by adj the front screw CCW till it goes loose/limp. If you don't and try to degas through that valve. Your going to empty the tank.
As for Lukes thumb adj. They work, I like mine but it's not necessary. You can actually find knobs like it at Home Depot, Lowes and ACE.
Best to use a 90* elbow with it so the valve isn't sticking straight out.
I did a similar post about looking for a small valve to degas the Geddon almost 2 yrs ago and someone pointed that valve out to me. I tried it and worked like a charm. Been recommending it to everyone that's had similar posts about degassing any AA reg.
I never did find a smaller one but this ones been 100%. Don't mind the 1000 PSI max statement on it. I ran my Geddon at 1500 PSI a bunch of times all day long and never had one leak.

I just got a Ninja and I can't recommend it enough. Make sure you order a rebuild kit with it though...it comes with extra pressure shims to jack the pressure up.
You just empty the tank out, unscrew the bonnet and drop them in. Took me about 2 minutes, and now my trigger is CRAZY bouncy, even with a longer mainspring.
I don't have an input pressure guage on there yet, but I'm guessing my output is somewhere around 950psi. An AA reg can probably go higher than that (my nitroduck adjustable can do 1200), but you may not need that much pressure.
If you're going with a reg that doesn't screw into a standard ASA you should probably look into a stainless steel line with a QD and slide check on it. Then you can cut your pressure at the tank and bleed off the air in the gun.
That right there is why I switched to screw-in regs and haven't looked back, even though my old nitroduck performed very well and had a crazy pressure range.

Well Factoid, you may have made up my mind for me... I already have a Ninja 1200 psi set reg on my 88/4500 Crossfire and it bounces nice even on the medium Level 10 spring. I was just really interested in picking up the Armageddon since I heard good things about them and I can get it with a recently hydro'd tank for $90. But, the fact that i would have to turn it up and down and up and down due to not having a shut off really may not be for me...

No different then any other on/off. Why would you want to degas it anyways. Turn off the air, shoot out till it won't fire anymore and it's perfectly legal to take off the field. Once you get home, if you don't have one of those ball valves, loosen up one of your fittings and degas it that way.Originally posted by gmiller0But, the fact that i would have to turn it up and down and up and down due to not having a shut off really may not be for me...
At least with a Geddon you can go on fields that don't allow RT'ing, you can adj the PSI down to 800 and guarantee that it won't bounce. A 1200 PSI Ninja, your going to RT no mater what and field stripping it in the back of your car seat.
You really want to risk that?
Get the Geddon. If you don't like it, sell it. It'll sell here...trust me.
Only down side of the Geddon is it's heavy. If weight is another issue with you then don't buy it or go to a gym.
