    Reg valve piston assembly

I just ordered an X-Valve parts kit. I have recently been having a "little" bit of velocity fluctuation that has gotten worse in the last year... so, I unscrewed the valve and took out the reg seat o rings and pulled out the reg piston assembly and the rubber thingy on the reg piston assembly seemed really dirty with brown crap on it...

First, What is the best way to clean out the Reg Piston area?? Does the xvalve kit come with this reg piston rubber thingy?? I know it comes with the c-clip so I am assuming so, but I don't know what it's called as it is not on the exploded view (only the whold reg piston assembly is shown).

Also, Ive never changed any o rings on my gun, so Im wondering what o rings would be smart to replace?

I think you're thinking of a couple different parts:

This is the regulator piston assembly:

It is down in the bottom of the regulator. It just has a single o-ring on it which will have a replacement in the parts kit. It's a good idea to replace this occasionally because it gets gunky from the grease on the reg springs and from the incoming air if it wasn't filtered during compression. It's a good idea to pull apart your reg every so often, put on new grease for the springs, clean out the whole cavity (I like to use a bit of sponge soaked in rubbing alcohol and a hemostat to get into the deep spots)

The reg piston should be coated lightly with marker oil, NOT grease. Grease is just for the springs to keep them from rusting.

This is the regulator valve pin assembly.

I think this is the one you're thinking about. It comes as one piece. You shouldn't try to disassemble it. It's OK to clean though, just make sure it gets oiled again afterwards. This part does not come in a parts kit.

When I do an o-ring replacement I tend to replace all of them, but you rarely need to worry about replacing your powertube tip or reg body o-rings. Those just provide a seal, they don't move or have anything moving across them.

I usually won't replace my level 10 power tube o-ring unless it's having problems once I've broken it in. I WILL replace the black carrier o-rings though. Those don't seem to affect the tuning of the level 10, but they will wear down over time.

You're correct Factiod... Im thinking about the reg valve pin assembly.... Im gonna replace the ones you suggested...

Are you supposed to "grease" the spring on the reg valve pin assembly or just oil it? Also, whats a good way to clean the hole where the reg valve pin goes?

No on the grease and use a Q-Tip.

Ok, so I got my Xvalve replacement o ring kit. I cleaned the valve and replaced the reg seat o rings, and cleaned the reg pin valve rubber thingy. Is it beneficial to change the black carrier o rings?? Also, just for giggles I changed the power tube o ring and used the largest carrier I have ( 1 line 1 dot ) without any shims and it does not leak, but when I purchased my xvalve 2 years ago, it did not come with a carrier larger than 1 line 1 dot. Should I call AGD and see if I can buy a 2 line carrier just in case??? I had a bit of bolt stick at first, but that was on a tank that was EXTREMELY low on air, but when I used a full tank it seemed good.

Also, I have heard of people pulling the trigger to cycle the gun and hold the trigger in and hearing a slight "hiss" for a split second that goes away.. I had this before I changed the reg pin seat oring and now it doesn't do that So that is probably the fix for that
