I have seen people say that they have a 3 star valve or a one star, what does that mean? and how do I tell that I have? Next I how do I determine what kinda of bolt design I currently have? I thought I saw someplace that level 10 would only work if the previously had a level 7. Any truth behind this?

Yes, the star program which is no longer in place was a free warrantee repair for each star on the valve. As a warrantee repair was done, a star was drilled to remove it. The valves were classified according to the stars they contained. The original 68Automags contained 3 stars. The minimags, which were a higher end gun (same valve but a nicer body and vertical feed) contained 5 stars. Later, the classic valves came with 1 star. All classic valves are the same and the star warrantee program has been discontinued, so it is a mute point now.Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

Speaking of old valves.... Anyone have a new powertube spring? I was crackin off some rounds on my old stainless valve with the level 7 installed and I got bolt stick. I know this is the powertube spring just being old... I know I should probably just break down and get the spacer kit from AGD DIRECT but it never did this until now. Ive never changed it since new which was in 1992.

Actually, its more apt to be that the bolt spring is weak and causing bolt stick.Originally posted by gmiller0Speaking of old valves.... Anyone have a new powertube spring? If the powertube spring is short and causing bolt stick, then you just need to physically increase the length by pulling the spring. If you have access to a couple of level 10 shims, you can install a shim or two between the powertube tip and the powertube spring. That will effectively increase the length of the powertube spring.Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.
