    red powertube o-ring (x-valve)

So when I was trying to take off the powertube tip the whole powertube started to unscrew. I took it all the way off out of curiosity, but then remembered BigEvil saying that taking off the powertube kills that o-ring and has to be replaced and to contact tunaman for one.

Is this true? should I replace that oring? I was contemplating sending it to tunaman anyway for a complete rebuild, just gutta wait for the extra funds.

If it came off without heat, I would give it a chance. The old classic valve o-rings seem to hold up ok for a couple dis-assemblies. They don't automatically come apart. It's just if you're planning on being in there and especially if you heat it up to get it apart, you should have a new one on hand.

When my powertube came apart. The red oring looked fine so I reused it and it hasn't given me any problems. However I did not use any heat to remove the cap.
