Drill and Tap a second hole in a x-valve..

Ok, So on little thing that just KINDA bugs me about a mag is that its not a symetrical gun. With the air line usually running from the right side. (I have the same problem with the detents, thats why im having another added to my ULE body)

Is it at all possible to have another air hole drilled and tapped on the other side, allowing you to run dual air lines?

don't see why you couldn't. they have reverse valve... which is just drilled and taped on the other side.

can't say I share your passion and agree with running duel air line but more power to ya

Does your gun have to be symmetrical?

Technically there is no reason why you can't. It's a regulator and regulators for use in other applications normally have multiple inlet and outlet valves for various reasons.
I hope you have the right equipment to drill and tap that hole correctly.
I'd like to see how it looks when you are done. Post a pic!

When you add an air line you are just gonna add more fittings to potentially leak and extra weight to your gun. Also, dont know if you are gonna do the work yourself? Well, first off it is real hard to get a straight hole unless you really know what you are doing. Best off getting it done by a pro for sure. good luck though.

I've drilled a classic valve without issue, I can't see why you wouldn't be able to do this.

If you're looking for symmetry though you might try to do a gasthru grip, I've seen that done with X-valves at least twice before... Then you could put a gauge where the fitting is now? Or something? Or just plug it. I dunno, I've always felt the same way about the symmetry to some degree, but when I started with mags there were no centerfeeds so it wasn't as pronounced.

I have seen the gas throughs and thats just too much. And no, I would definitely have someone else do this. I have absolutely no means of doing something like this myself.

Being symetrical is not a huge issue, its just something that was in the back of my head when I started playing with mags. Then I recently saw pics of a classic rt with dual air lines and thought Hey! maybe I can do something like that with my mag.

And thanks for the answers, I kind figured the only difference between a regular and reverse was were the hole was drilled. But in off chance they were internally different this wouldnt work.

Hey if anything I will eliminate the airline as a cause for any shoot down or bad performance!!

Frizzle, would you feel comfortable doing something like this?

on a side note, lets let bygones be bygones, sorry about that whole thing a few months ago.

If Frizzle won't do it, I would check with luke. His work is always top notch...

haha, yeah, I am contacting luke right now, I was planning on sending him my ULE for the second detent. Might as well see if I he'll do it at the same time.

Mine was pretty ghetto. I don't exactly have a machine shop, just a workshop (with lots geared towards guitar making) that happens to have a drill press. I just threaded a bar into the existing hole, clamped it in a cradle of soft pine, and measured the depth of the air inlet as a reference. I actually punched it with a smaller bit before I tapped it, then cleaned all the edges up with emery cloth... Not pretty when open but it looks fine. If given a chance (and I do have a project in mind) I'd countersink it a bit like the stock air inlet.

I'm doing a classic valve with something similar for an upcoming project, I'd be happy to post a couple pics.
