AO: We are back from the dead... again! After an 18 day outage, we are finally alive and well. Who knew how complicated updating software/databases from 2008 would be. I still have alot of tweaks to make, but my main goal was getting everything patched and updated to 2026.
Vbulletin 6 has changed alot since 2008 so we will have a ton of new features to dig into.
Tune without any shims. Shims do not affect the overall operation of the level 10 and can cause the vent hole to be too close to the oring. This can cause leaks that act like a carrier that is too loose. If you then use a tighter carrier, you will get bolt stick issues thinking that you have the proper size carrier when if fact you have a carrier that is too small.
Shims only affect how far the bolt has to move before it can vent air and reset. Each shim is only 0.01" thick. Adding two shims moves the oring sealing point 0.02" closer to the the vent hole. Even if you have a breach blockage, if the bolt moves far enough to get past the sear, it will always move farther than the thickness of a couple of shims. Therefore, you should never need shims installed.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.
