    level X problem

I just purchased a level 10 kit for my mag. Upon installation the bolt will not go into the body. After a little tinkering and trouble shoothing I found that the very tip of th bolt about the thickness of the foamie is slightly larger than the rest of the bolt body. I can feel this variation with my finger and can see it visually like it wasnt turned on the lathe all the way.

Im thinking this isn't normal but I may be wrong. The stock bolt drops right through but the 10 hangs up and wobbles around inside. Did I get a lemon? Can I just take some 400 grit and elbow grease and make it fit with out adverse effects?

    Thanks for reading and replying

The bolt is suppose to be like that. What body are you using? PTP bodies have problems with using level 10 valves.

As mentioned, the tip of the bolt is slightly larger in diameter than the rest of the bolt. The smaller breach diameters of PTP bodies have problems with this. AGD mag bodies don't have an issue unless the body washer has gotten damaged. If you have a PTP body, you can sand down the outer diameter of the bolt to make it fit. It won't affect the performance of the level 10. If you have a damaged body washer in an AGD body, you can file out the body washer to make it the proper size again.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

Thanks for setting the record for me. The body is a stock VF stainless Emag body with twist lock. A visual inspection looks good from both ends. The stock feedneck is so tall I cant put a finger in there to feel around.

What would be better you think to use a wood dowl and sand the inside or sand the bolt?

it is more than likely your barrel. see if your bolt will fit inside your barrel.

Take the body by itself and drop the bolt into the breach from the back. If it slides into the breach, then the problem is the barrel. If it fetches up, then it is the body washer separating the front and back half of the body and you will need to file it back to its original size. If it is the barrel, you will need to use a different barrel.

well evidently the body washer was damaged ever so slightly. A couple of laps with a gunsmithing file and the bolt falls right through. Thanks for all the support guys!
