Locking ring and washer inside Mag body??

I sent my Tac-One body to get it milled and anodized. The anodizer sent me a picture of a locking ring and washer that I forgot to remove inside the body.

First of all, what does it do? Secondly, is it hard to put back in? I wouldn't want to screw anything up.

It is there to prevent damage to the softer aluminum in the body from the force of the bolt cycling...called "peening" I think. It is pretty easy to replace. I just pushed mine back in with the end of a wooden dowl until it snapped into the groove in the body. Be glad the anodizer removed it for you, otherwise it would have been damaged in the process and you would be buying a new one...

YEah, I'm fortunate he removed it, considering he usually doesn't work much with Mags.

So what goes in first? The washer-type thing then the locking ring?

I did not remove mine either and they just plugged the body and left it there during the process.

The washer first, and then the ring.

Heh, I got a wierd deja vu vibe from that sentence from my Tippmann days

"Washer first, then o-ring. The tombstone hold them in place. If you don't know what that means, you soon will"

I thought the exact same thing, Hook. lol

Any hints as to what your Tac will look like after it comes back from anno?

Here's a preview (mind the fingerprints):

Shortened the tac body to minimag length, and got the body and rail polished and anodized gloss black.

I've got a gloss black RPG foregrip, Viperblade trigger and Subzero feedneck to complete the look, as well as walnut wood grips on the Intelliframe.

Now all that's missing is a gloss black barrel, preferably 6-7 inch in length.

Looks nice! Your tommy gun tac was my inspiration for building my dad's minimag. I'm working with my father-in-law (a former cabinet maker) to craft a set of walnut .45 grips and a foregrip. When it gets all done and put together, I'll be sure to post pics.

Have you thought of getting a gloss black freak back with the reeeeally short tip for your barrel?

Thought about it, yeah. But I already have a TechT iFit bore kit and was pondering on getting one of those small FLASC barrels with a handful of different muzzle tips.

They're only available in dust black, so I'll need to get those anodized too

Haha, it never ends Keep us posted with your mag project!
