You talking about the front screw hole that holds the body and frame together? Not good.

Cheapest option would be to buy a drill/tap set... something slightly bigger than the hole already there. Drill it through. Tap it. Buy a bigger screw to hold the body/frame together.

However, that option will leave you with a small hole in the bottom of your body. That shouldn't be a problem (someone correct me here if I'm wrong) because the bolt will move each ball forward past that point before firing. If you get a break, though, that little hole will fill up with paint and be a pain to clean out.

Personally, I would call up AGD and ask if you can send the body back to them for repairs. That would be the more expensive route, but you'd have the peace of mind knowing it was fixed correctly.

If he drills and taps a new hole why does he have to drill it into the breach of the gun? why not keep it the same depth as the original hole?

I have my emag battery pack screw stripped out, I ordered a Heli coil kit for it. that way you don't have to drill your frame for a bigger screw and make it harder to use it with the stock screw.

you can ask tuna he has the kit and will do the install if you don't have the means.

Check first how far into the hole you stripped the threads. If it is just the first few you can get a little longer screw to engage the ones that are left

They do work well. They don't like ano, so keep that in mind.

Tap dyes are tapered at the business end, so to tap the threads well, you have to push the dye past where you need to threads to catch. So, if you want 1/2 inch of threads, you can't just drill a 1/2 inch deep hole. You have to drill a 3/4 inch hole, or even deeper, so that the tapered end of the dye goes deep enough to cut all the threads you need. For something as thin as a ULE body, this would probably mean drilling completely through the body.

Which is why this helicoil thing sounds like a better idea. I've never heard of them before. Learn'd something new today, I guess.

Well here's something else your going to learn.

They sell bottoming taps too. Bottoming taps don't have the excess shaft that regular taps have.

Helicoil will be your best bet and can be removed.

I can't imagine how you could know about taps and not know about bottoming taps.

Imagine all those holes being drilled trough or deeper just for that reason so they can be tapped all the way needed... especially on any mag involving parts.

How about JB welding an aluminum screw in there, flush it off nicely then drill and re-tap, and if you are really handy you can even make your own tap from the same size screw, but get a much stronger metal for that trick.

God luck and never crank those screws hard with any aluminum parts.

Use red loctite on the helicoil and it will never fail.

I have done this to two ule bodies. Drill and tap the hole to the bottom of the factory hole it is actually very easy to do the drill will cut very quickly through the mashed threads stop and check your work often once you see the drill hit the bottom of the hole your done. The hole is deep enough to tap and heli-coil with no extra drama, unless you are uncomfortable doing it then farm out the work. I fix stuff like this alot takes about 5 min when i am feeling lazy.
