My tac one is leaking air out of the on/off. I added/removed shims and replaced and oiled all o-rings. Any one know what could be causing it to leak?

Check for a burr or a piece of dirt, both in the hole and in the lower section of the on-off assembly, as well as on the pin itself. You can check the on-off pin to see if it is straight by rolling it on a flat surface such as a mirror or piece of glass. If it wobbles, then there is a bend. If it rolls smoothly in a curve, then it is fine.Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

Unscrew the two halves of the on-off assembly. If the pin is stuck, it will come out with the top section. You can then push it out from the top side using a pen or small micro screw driver.Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

Yes, a curve could cause a leak. I would cause more tension on one side of the oring and less on the other. You can straighten it. Just be careful doing it so that you don't snap the pin off.Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

didn't have any luck with straightening it. I ordered a new one and just got it in and it still leaks. I'm out of ideas. Any mag experts near CT?
Is it possible for a x-valve to leak where the silver powertube part meets with the black on/off part?Last edited by Anvari; 05-28-2011, 07:28 PM.

The valves can leak between the powertube part and the body, but it is exceptionally rare. There is more apt to be a leak between the two halves of the valve.
Since you questioned the possibility of a leak farther forward in the valve, are you exactly sure of where the leak is coming from? You should do some air leak checks with your ear. Try to pinpoint exactly where the sound is coming from. Perhaps the leak is not coming from the on-off at all.Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

when I thought I had a power tube leak the AGD tech told me to wrap that part of the valve with scotch tape, and air the marker back up, when you take the valve back off you should see if the tape got disturbed due to a leak in that area. make sure you get any air bubbles or seams out of the tape.
worked for me, sent my valve to AGD to get fixed.
