    x valved mag problem...

so after falling in love with my classic 68 i knew she needed to be upped as much as possible so i got her an intelle., ule body, and xvalve...never had any problems with it, only broken far less than 10 balls in over 5 years of play. anyhow, i go to gas her up last sunday so i put a couple drops of lube in the asa it charges up as usuall, i go to put some paint through it an the trigger pushes the sear pin back and i get nothing...mess around with it for a little bit and end up having to borrow my friends back up mag, any suggestions..

so ive pulled it apart and and everything seems fine, lubed the orings, and put it back together, i gas it up and it shoots a few shots and then does the same thing, ive tried ajusting the sear pin, tried messing with the power tubes and dont know what else i could do to find the fix...

"Sear pin"? Does that mean on/off pin?

And does "messing w/ power tubes" mean changing LVL10 bolt carriers? Cause it sounds like bolt stick to me but i, admittedly, know very little.

sear pin, the part that sticks out of the trigger frame, all orings in the on off are lubed and not worn...when i put a smaller spacer in the power tube it leaks down the barrel...

The sear pin is the part which the sear pivots on.

By far, the best thing you can do to fix your problem is searching "Tom Kaye automag" on YouTube. You'll find a good base to understand the system there.

You should try a larger carrier if you're experiencing bolt-stick. If it cycles with a larger carrier (even if the larger one leaks), that's exactly what the problem is, bolt-stick.

You've been playing with this Xvalve for 5 years, right? Another cause of bolt stick is a worn bolt spring. Check the spring and make sure it extends at least a half-coil past the end of the bolt when everything is seated properly on the valve. If it's been worn by being compressed so often, it won't have the power to fully reset the bolt.

may be a worn spring, but i guess i could mess with the spacers some more, how do you tell which is a bigger size...?

Even the long red and grey bolt spring can cause issues if they are worn. They will still be longer than the bolt but not have much spring left in them.

The carriers are marked by lines and dots. A line cut around the outside of the carrier represents a 1. Two lines = 2. Dots represent a half size (not each dot, but dots as a hole).

Find the largest carrier that doesn't leak and always use the same white carrier oring in each carrier that you try.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

When the problem occurs, try pushing on the face of the bolt with your finger or squeegee and see if the bolt resets. Could just be a worn spring.
