    Micromag 2k9 emag tuning?

I was wondering what you guys had your settings at for your microemags to make them run.

I'm interested in the on/off pin, plunger, and trigger rod lengths.

    thanks for the help!!

Most micro emags use a shorter pin that the standard AGD emag. The original micro-emags used a 0.685" on-off pin. I don't know what the 2k9 uses. You can use a standard 0.712" emag pin and add a couple of level 10 shims between the on-off halves. Don't over do it and squeeze the on-off quad oring. You will be able to get a feel for whether the extra shims work. Test it in manual mode. If the emag is not extra reactive or coughing, then you should leave them in. If it chuffs and the bolt stays forward, then take them out. If you want to be extra sure, take the grip frame off the emag and bolt the body and valve onto the rail using shorter 10-32 screws. Keep the sear assembly on the rail. Air up the gun and fire it. Hold the trigger/sear and gently release it until the on-off releases air and pushes the bolt forward against the sear. This will tell you how much space there is between on and off and how far the sear needs to move to fire the gun after the on-off pin shuts off the air.

For setting the solenoid plunger length put the grip frame back on the rail. Adjust the solenoid plunger so that it bottoms out at the maximum distance that you want the on-off pin and sear to travel. You don't want the on-off too far up into the valve cavity and you don't want the solenoid plunger to be too far away from the bottom of the solenoid when sitting at rest. The solenoid maximizes its power the closer the plunger is to the bottom of the solenoid so it is best to keep it as close as possible when sitting idle and ready to fire. Ideally, the sear should be rotated just far enough to clear the bolt with a bit of space to spare in case of dirt or debris when the plunger is at the bottom. That's all.

The trigger rod length is dependent on where you set your trigger stop and trigger magnet. They are all interdependent on each other. Generally, you would set the trigger stop to where you like the feel of the trigger. Then, adjust the trigger rod so that it doesn't hit the back of the trigger when you hold the trigger against the stop. The trigger magnet can be adjusted to work with the trigger position you have selected.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

whoa thats some great info...do you know if any other tuning/troubleshooting videos have been made for the newer valves or newer Mags? i have tried asking about videos on tuning a pneumag but no video?

hey thanks for sharing the knowledge tho...thats what i like best about this forum!!!

The newer valves are the same internally as the older valves so the older valve troubleshooting videos and diagrams work. Custom gun designs like the pneumag usually don't have videos because they don't have the same installed user base, unless a user takes the time to make one. Usually the designers are too busy working on improving the design to take the time to make a video on tuning it.

oh i was meaning Videos on the RT type Valves compared to the classic valves...or possibly videos for the ULT since alot of the newer Mag owners usually ask questions about tuning those? hey thanks for the response man!!

Ok as an update to my thread, i decided to sit down and hammer out the details for this. I have an Xvalve with Ult so mys setup may a little different. Here are the specs ive ran for 2 weekends now.

                Trigger Rod: 2.125"

                Solenoid Plunger Rod: 3.005"

                Ult with 4 shims

the rods worked out with standard emag lengths, the ULT was the tricky part

There are a few that have had success with the ULT in an emag. It just needs a bit more care taken in its tuning. How does it work with the ULT? How fast can it fire before it starts to starve for air due to the slower reset of the sear assembly?
