    Suggestions needed!

Hello everyone as you can see im new to the community and have a few questions for you guys. I am a little new to paintball, im not clueless but im not knowledgeable on all of the guns and what i think would be fit for me. What i am looking for is a good mechanical paintball marker for under 300. I currently have an older tippmann 98 custom. Nothing done to it but I am considering an rt trigger and a freak barrel kit. What do you guys think i should do, just upgrade my tippmann or look for a better mechanical gun?

I also have had some experience with electric guns, ive played with the proto rails and i just prefer mechanical. Feel free to ask me any questions to better understand what I am looking for. Thanks!

Both the 98 and Mag are the AK-47 of paintball. You can ger a RT grip for the 98 or for $300 you can find a basic Mag with a RT valve ready to go.

tippmann does make a good product but it is nothing compared to the quality of a mag. Now if you are going to be useing co2 i'd stick with the tippy for sure

Its all your prefernce if you have the chance to play with a mag try that before ya decide. My guess you will like the mag. The feel of a mag is much different than a tippmann.

I bought my mag in 1996. Played for a couple of years then it sat on a shelf in the basement for 10 years. replaced the orings and it was ready to go. Since then I have replaced just about everything (my prefernce, wanted to return the favor to elctro kids!!).

So the mag is as customizeable as a tippmann, if not more. With the avaibility of used parts it can be much cheaper to upgrade a mag. So with a little $ you can turn a classic mag into a ball slinger

        Hope this helps!!

After talking to a few people i think im going to get a barrel kit and an rt trigger for the tippmann and eventually a proto rail. The enjoyment of using my tippmann, and when i want to get serious, i can use the rail.

If you're going to keep the Tippy, replace the bottomline adapter with a female Palmer's Stabilizer. It can handle CO2 or HPA and is a quality regulator. That's something the Automag has over the Tippy out of the box, and it's a very worthy upgrade.

I have a Tippmann 98C as well as an older 68 special. My 98C is actually modified with ramping and eyes. I can tell you that there is no comparison of a 98c to the feel of a mag. Once you use a mag, it will be the gun of choice unless you like the feel of using the Tippmann because of the kick it delivers which can simulate a real gun.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.
