    Degassing a marker between games?

I've got a CP on/off ASA with system bleed. I recently read over on PBN that you should turn it on at the start of the day and leave it on all day long - degassing your marker between games will harm or wear out your regulator.

Now, I'm not one to accept tech advice from PBN without verifying it first. And, I believe they were primarily talking about newer markers, not the tough-as-nails quality of AGD. So my question is, if I air up and degas my marker (Classic or X-valve) 4 or 5 times in a day, does it really have adverse effects on my reg/valve?

I'd be curious to hear the rationale behind why it would wear a regulator out. Seems to me, just the opposite, that leaving the marker under pressure, would tend to wear components such as springs etc out faster.

i know that you arent suposed to do it on the geo's because when you degas it the bolt moves forward pushing the ball in the barrel and on the first shot you shoot 2 balls

Yeah, the spring loaded ram in promasters drifts forward too. There's probably a way to make a reg get damaged with a pressure spike; my little Rex/12g reg that I put together ended up leaking if I didn't start it off unloaded. I consider that a defect though.

I suspected the PBN experts might be off. Thanks for the confirmation.

I have no technical reason as to why I always leave my air on when I'm at a field. It always just seemed to me that if I degassed everytime i seemed to blow more orings or develop leaks. Once it was aired up with no leaks I just left it that way. Seems like extra wear and tear on the orings from being in a state of no pressure to a state of high pressure. Just my opinion.
                  Thanks,
                  Jeremy

It affects the consistancy of most guns
when you degass and the regass most regs they will possibly seat slightly diffferent, giving a different psi output, which directly affects the fps

you should always chrono after reapplying air, even if you chronoed earlier and didnt adjust anything
