Pump question

anyone know the average lenght of a spring for a pump?

Or how many coils you cut on them?

need to cut couple of springs and I don't want to mess them up.

Gold or black springs, likely gold since I have plenty of those.

The spring needs to be long enough to push the bolt back against the powertube oring, but not long enough to have enough tension to reset against the wave spring without help from the pump. Snip the end off one of your springs so that it is only as long as the tip of the bolt to start. If it resets on its own, snip a bit more off until it won't. Always put the cut end against the bolt.
