Quick background. Went to charge the battery on my emag last night so that it would be ready to play this morning. I noticed it took longer than normal to charge and was pretty warm when done. I put it on my gun and the display started freaking out. It's dead in the water. I normally just use my regular micro mag in fun play. The micro e is for when things get serious. I had a kid today with one of those new eteks ramping and hosing the rec field. I fell back to my wife's b2k2 but it can't replace the warped emag. What is the best way to find out if my problem is the battery or board? I put a multimeter on the battery and it shows 19v which I think is supposed to be good. But they aren't supposed to get hot when charging. I really fear having lost the board since they appear to be obsolete. I'm rather lost without the crown jewel of my collection. Thanks in advance for your thoughts and input.

Could have a bad ground. Remove the screw holding down the board and run a tap(4-40) down it. Reinstall the screw and see what you get.
As for your battery. They will get mildly warm, that's normal. If its very hot to the touch the stop using it and get a new one. -
Check the HES magnet on the trigger. If it is too close to the sensor when the gun is turned on, it can have interesting effects. Of course, this is only with AGD firmware. If your emag has Xmod, it isn't the same.Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.Comment

K, the latest diags. 19v at the battery, disassembled and no discoloration on the white shrink wrap. Isolated the hes from the trigger magnet and cleaned the ground at the board. Tested from the two white wires on the top of the board to the head of the ground screw and got 19 volts there. Not getting anything from the board. I appreciate the help. Are their any more ideas on how to tell if it's board or battery?Good Traders: Tubby NinjaComment

Another update and question. The new board boots. However, it appears that usps did their best and managed to break the white extensions off both switches for the back buttons. Quite the roller coaster from whoohoo! to crap in under 3 minutes. Does anybody know of someone or a business that can replace the switches. If needed we could canibalize the old board. It would be even better if they could repair both. My hands shake to much any more for the small soldering. Thanks for the help.Good Traders: Tubby NinjaComment
