    Help! Poblem with automag body

    So i was dry firing my mag today and when i was done i looked down the feed neck and found that the metal ring that the bolt spring sits against had moved up pushing the twist lock barrel out. Any idea if this can be fixed?
    How did AGD hold those rings in anyways? It was certainly not pressed in.

    Specs:
    Stainless centerfeed automag body
    Proline autoresponse
    Dye boomstick
    Classic valve

    Toss it. I know it sucks, but I can't imagine a reliable repair for this. Not one that wouldn't cost you more than the body is worth.

        The washers are welded in place. It can be redone but may be less expensive to buy a new one.
        Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

          Sorry no pics. I knocked the ring back in place and left it at work.

          I was thinking of putting a couple of set screws in unseen areas (like under the rail).
          Just wondered if it ever happened to anybody and if they tried to fix it.

          I thought mag bodies were indestructible... Until now

            Its happened before, but doesn't happen very often.

              Athomas did you mean solder? I can't see how they could weld in there.

              And if that the case I can get some silver solder and try it.

                You can weld using a method called "sput welding". It involves high current flow through the body to the washer. The points of contact will weld themselves together.

                Silver solder is low temperature soldering. silver brazing is high temp and stronger.

                Silver solder is probably the easiest but silver brazing is the stronger so it should be used in this application. It can be done with a propane torch and is quite strong.

                Tensile Strength = 71,000 PSI
                Yield Strength = 60,000 PSI
                Elongation = 25%
                Hardness = Brinell 130
