    Foamy or not?

I just bought a used mini mag with serial # a little over 14,000. I don't know if the bolt it came with is a foamiless or a foamy bolt sans foamy. How can I tell the difference so I can get some foamys if need be.

What does your bolt look like? Can you post a pic?

The bolt is stock AGD, and looking at it as you would down the barrel, has three "spokes" and a dimple in the center. There isn't any residue or foamy chunks still stuck to it, but the last user took terrible care of this gun so chances are he wouldn't have replaced foamies if needed.

I guess an even better question would be what is the difference between the two bolts.

Ahah, the same one that I just bought it seems. I have had good experiences with this bolt.

The best bolt I have ever used is the extended foamie bolt. It drastically cut down on my ball breakage.

To foamie or not to foamie

I have both a foamieless mag and and the old school foamie mag, each gun seems to break balls about the same (very little). I use the older gun wih the foamie, just cause I like old school.

how do you keep the foamie on the bolt? mine keep shooting off. tried krazy glue...zap-a-gap...and even team orion glue (from my r/c cars)...they still fly out. im trying to get back into this and stay old school (as my mag is like 10 years old), but its getting bothersome. hoping to avoid a 30 dollar investment in a foamiless.

                  albert-

First clean off the surface of the bolt by scrapping off the old glue residue and cleaning the surface with alcohol. Go to your hobby store and ask for their strongest glue that will bond rubber and try that. If the foamie is blowing off and then you're trying to glue on a new one without cleaning the surface, it won't last long.

I've heard using a two part epoxy works well. And everything I've read says cleaning off the old bits is the most important part.
