Runaway Mag

Problem here.

My mag is running away on full auto as soon as it's gassed up. Even on safe.
Took it apart to inspect, and noticed the sear catch was bent. The end facing the valve.
Straightened it, but it didn't seem to fix the problem.

Another thing I noticed: Usually when removing the valve after you've removed the field-strip screw, you have to press trigger to hear that little click to release the valve. Doesn't do that with the zgrip. What's going on here?

Any specific pictures I should be taking? The on/off o-rings look fine.

make sure your on/off pin is still the right length. They can break off at the bottom and look right from either end, just too short.

Thanks for the info. I did check my on/off earlier today but may have overlooked the pin being broken off. Although, when checking the on/off pin here at the house, the broken piece fell out. I'm not sure if it JUST snapped when I was home, or if it was already broken from yesterday, and the piece just finally fell out.

measure the length with a pair of calipers. rod length (total length from tip of rod to where it connects to the sear) should be 1.945" for RT, and 1.998" for RT Pro / AM / MM.

The sear is not broke in half.

But yes. The ON/OFF pin is.

I believe he's referring to the trigger rod and not the on/off pin.

I'm not sure if it JUST snapped when I was home, or if it was already broken from yesterday, and the piece just finally fell out.

The o-ring in the body of the on/off may have held it in place before. The length of the two pieces should be 0.750". You could be missing a third small section that came off first.

The sear itself looks fine (as usual).
