    tank fill question

I had my buddy take my tank to get it filled for me today and well they tried to fill my tank threw the out port instead of the in. I have an apocalypse regulator and they did blow out my output pressure gauge but my question is with these idiots doing such a thing could they have damaged my regulator too? I havnt gotten it from my friend yet and wont have it until tomorrow so im just wondering if I should expect to get it back broken. I am also going to call and give them a piece of my mind once I get my tank back

Where did this happen? You are relatively close to me. Or would you rather not say? Who ever did the damage should have replaced what they broke.

uh did they replace your gauge and fill tha tank the correct way and test for any leaks or damage before giving it back to your friend? that would be messed up if they damaged your tank and didnt fix it? did your friend say its still broke or wat…this aint making any sense?

no, he said they tried filling it wrong but he didn't look for any damage. after I talked to him I had him check out what he could and the gauge is blew and pinned at its max output and I have his gun to fix it so he cant air up a gun with it. they did end up filling the tank properly but didn't bother replacing my gauge or testing out the tank for further damage.

Let me start off by saying that I am within jogging distance to their proshop, I am about a 15 minute drive to their field AND I HAVE VOWED NEVER TO GO BACK TO THESE PEOPLE AGAIN. I am sorry to hear about your tank but not surprised. Also, I must also point out that their refs are extremely nice, the owner's children have been knowledgeable and friendly, and their field is built on an old Taylor park that has some interesting fields. Plus, I have always had a good time with their player base. However, there is a certain manager their that has lied to me almost every time I've talked to her, bad mouthed other local fields and has made me over pay on numerous occasions. I just got back into paintball about a year ago and have always had a bad experience with that manager. She sold me a barrel kit for my Spyder used for $50. It came with 3 backs and 2 tips. I noticed that all the backs were large bore and told her I would like the kit but it needed small bore backs. She told me to buy the kit go home and order what I needed online and if I couldn't find it, they would order me one. Well, that kit was discontinued. Tried numerous web sites and sellers on ebay to no avail. Went back and told her I couldn't find the backs I needed. She flat out told me - no refunds and didn't even try or even fake an attempt to locate the backs for me. This is just one of a dozen stories I could tell. Anyone I talk to seems to have a story about them. I considered starting a thread about them to see if people here could talk me to going back there. If it was any other proshop, I'd tell you to go back and they would do the right thing but I'm afraid it will be a lesson in futility. I'm sorry.

I went to school with her son, but I live in lansing now so im calling her tomorrow and telling her shes replacing my gauge and actually filling my tank, they only filled it to 2000 and its a 4500. this isn't the first time this has happened there but last time it was replaced on the spot and it was her son who did the same thing. last time any money will be spent there by me or any of my friends who paintball. I don't understand how most of the other stores in the area have closed yet they have stayed open and are completely ignorant and unknowledgeable to paintball products.

chances are they will prolly not replace tha gauge or acknowledge tha tank not being filled all tha way since there wasn't anything said while you were in tha store…ya kno. they sound kinda shady as it is so they will prolly say how do we kno that didnt happen after leaving tha store or how do they know it wasn't already messed up before they tried to fill the tank. hopefully thats not gonna be tha case tho?

Happened to me as well. Although she didn't forget to charge full price on the fill.

I've gotta say they sound like a shoddy operation, based on a lot of things brought up in this thread.

That said, this sounds like a mistake made out of ignorance rather than negligence or stupidity. This mishap alone doesn't necessarily make them idiots. Most of the guys at the fields and shops in my area tend to be 22 at the oldest, and most have NEVER encountered a tank reg that doesn't screw in - in their world, the paintball world of the last 14 or so years, the only nipple on a tank is for filling the tank. They check the hydro date, look for damage, find the nipple, watch the gauge, then hand the tank back; that's SOP and they do it dozens of times a day, every day. A few times I've had a ref at a field ask me about the two nipples on my Flatline, but most of the time its filled while attached to the marker and it doesn't come up. When it does I make a point of telling the person filling it "fill from the right, and don't twist that knob or it will vent" because they're just not common setups and people aren't generally familiar with them. If I wanted a friend to have my tank filled for me, I would advise them to do the same.

I wouldn't worry about anything other than the gauge, you're probably fine, but if there is an issue the shop should take care of it.

To answer your question. The Apocalypse in the same as a Mag reg, nearly indestructible. I can't see how they could hurt it by filling it backward, other then the gauge screaming it pain as it died. Is it the stainless steel or the Alum.2k? Just looked at mine, The person who filled it is illiterate, It's right on the reg "in/high" "out/low". The SS is lasered and the Alum engraved , both very easy to read.

You give a very sound argument. Definitely could have been helpful. However, I would bet $100 that the person who filled his tank was closer to 62 and has been with the sport since its inception.

also a good amount of arguing got my gauge replaced, it finally came to well you have been coming here for a long time and I would like to keep your business; after the denial of her doing the damage in the first place, but all is well.
