    theoritical automag mod that would make it stop on a ball

    i have an intresting idea for a blow forward gun, but you might be able to mod an automag to have these features so i am posting it here.

    this will consist of a blow forward bolt much like the automag's with a bolt return spring that is slightly less than the pressure that the air valve pushes the bolt forward so that the bolt does not have as much effective pressure pushing it forward. (will stop on a ball)

    the bolt would be pushed back as soon as the force generated by the air chamber is less than the bolt force.

    however, this bolt will have a tip that will remain forward, preventing gas venting up the feed port and allow gass to vent out the barrel as long as gas is flowing through it.

    this would not completley discharge the air chamber, resulting in faster charge rates.

    this would also require a larger air chamber, which might prove to be impratical.
    As society and the problems that face it become more and more complex and machines become more and more intelligent, people will let machines make more of their decisions for them, simply because machine-made decisions will bring better results than man-made ones. Eventually a stage may be reached at which the decisions necessary to keep the system running will be so complex that human beings will be incapable of making them intelligently. At that stage the machines will be in effective control. People won't be able to just turn the machines off, because they will be so dependent on them that turning them off would amount to suicide

    sometimes I just freaking hate people. which means the next day I will love them for the sake of balance, but right now I will just concentrate on the hating. Hate hate hate. Blaaaarg! ;)

    turborev - with ai like this, if it controlled any more than a paddle, it would kill you and everyone you care about. ;)

      so we need a stronger spring to do this. maybe adg can make them.

              the following bolt is to be used with the heavy spring

              take a standard automag bolt, chop 1/8 in off the tip and core most of it out (except for some metal to hold the plug that goes in the power tip that does not interfere with the inner pistion.

              the inner pistion, this is where the beauty is, it will be held lightly back by a verry light spring, and will not have a clear path out the front, (the flow path will be pretty restrictive).

              the bolt will move slowly forward, and go back, and the inner pistion will stay forward till the air infront of the powertube will be dumped.

              this will require the air valve to be run at higher pressures, but will result in a higher recharge rate because it will not completley dump the air chamber.

              the chamber pressure will not increase because the restrictiveness of the bolt pistion will keep chamber pressures far from the operating pressure.
