Also try q-tips soaked in oil to scrub out that area. The oil should prevent cotton strands from coming loose, and of course, further lube the hole.

On a separate note, I've used my 68/4500 to blow up an inflatable swimming pool up north when we didn't have a compressor. Also used my scuba tank to blow up an air mattress really really quickly.

You may want to inspect your orings under a magnifying glass for defects or damage.

This. Swapping out your valve pin assembly with another one that is known to be good is the first thing I would try.

swapped out with a working pin assembly.... boom fixed.
compare the spring/washer stack and the one that doesn't work looks like its more compressed.

Good to hear. Do you still plan on posting a pic? Where did you get the new spacer? I didn't know those were available separately.

A picture of the bad reg pin assy. No need if you've got it working and just plan to scrap the old assy, but I'm hoping someone can see something as to why that assy isn't working.

Yes the marker now works but some us us would like to know what is wrong with the malfunctioning reg assembly. Perhaps posting a picture would help us figure it out.
