    EM1 help. I know, i know.

I know it's not a mag, but this help isn't for me, it's for a friend. I havent shot it my self, this info is just second hand from another friend. He said that the gun was breaking paint almost every third shot. It may or may not have been chopping. I'm wondering if the dwell settings can be changed, but I need help on this as fast as possible.

You guys know more about ANY guns that any other place on the internet. And besides, I couldnt find a decent site that has EM1 help on it, so I decided to try back here.

Thanks for all help in advance.

i think that the stack of balls mite not be enough. this happened with my friends em1, he got a new feed tube and got rid of the elbow and it starteed chopping since there was not a great enough stack.

The EM1 should shoot just fine with a Low-Rise unless the dwell is too short. Chopping like that really sounds like a dwell issue. Have your friend turn up the dwell until the problem goes away.

go to the forums there. they have a whole em1 section and the guys are really helpful. as an ex-em1 owner i can tell you cold weather will break a ton of paint in that marker. last i heard people were speculating the ball detent wasn't retracting properly when cold.

Could be a ball detent' issue. In not sure what type of ball detent's they use but I know if it's a cocker style, that they can be very problematic.

Otter from the Kingman board is really a good guy. Dalum is another mod over there who actually owns an EM1, he may be of some help as well. The detents screw in from the outside of the frame, and there's a ball on the inside that keeps from double feeding. The ball is SUPPOSED to move or recess when the marker is fired and the paint passes. I don't know if that's how cockers work.

                  em1

                  could be a couple things.

Find out if it's chopping or breaking in barrel, is he using an agitator? I use mine without any feed elbow. just clamp the revy to the short neck. allows for only a couple in the stack but I've had no probs at about 8bps. There are replacement feed tubes, I've just ordered one from www.vaporworks.net

insure the detent isn't too far in or gummed with paint/shell etc...

paint to barrel match could be another prob.

but really if you think about it? chopping is a symptom of feeding probs. in the barrel is generally the paint. might want to check the screw at the back of the bolt(attached to the return spring) may have come out a bit allowing the bolt extra movement, could be a prob.

                  aside from those, try

                  EM1 forum.

Well from the way you explained it it sounds asthough it takes cocker ball detents. Alot of the stock ball detents have a metal ball. The metal balls suck, the wear and get nicks and burrs on them, then they stay recessed. even if it;s not the problem id spend the $15 and get a nice detent that has a nyloon ball in it.

Ramsee1 how long ago did you own your EM1. Did it chop paint in decent weather too? You're not from jersey by any chance are you?

                        funny you should ask

Yup North Jersey here too. We know each other? I modded on the Kingman board for a while, and stopped when I got rid of my Spyders. I had my EM1 for I'd say six months. It only started breaking a lot in the cold weather. Its funny because like 20 people posted all in a weeks time that the same thing was happening to them. The marker has a lot of inherent problems across the board: leaks, breakage, blowback, bad regulators, etc. When it started breaking paint it was the last straw for me.
